Try burning some candles. That usually takes unwanted smells out of my house. Patsy Patsy

Is the smell attached to the microwave? If so how about washing it out with bicarconate of soda - works for smelly fridges.

my husband burned a potholder last month and talk about stink ! Well I tried my tried and true remedy....wet a CLOTH towel with water, pour on some white vinegar, wring. Walk around the house swinging the towel around in the air. (yes I know it sounds silly and my husband didn't believe it till he saw/smelled it either) it works and doesn't cost a thing....and no your house won't smell like vinegar either. Chrys

You could put out a bowl of baking soda that will absorb the odours. Sher My website

That will teach us to put popcorn in the oven and go watch a movie wating for the timer to beep. I am washing the curtains today. just after spring cleaning. The more you disaprove, the more fun I am having!

Try putting some vinegar in a container of water and microwaving it for 2 minutes... let it cool in there...then do it again.... I would then open the door to let the steam dry out... but be careful of the container of hot water.. Do NOT burn yourself.. I would let it cool down before taking it out of there.. Sew With Love

Boiling lemon juice and water in your microwave might help too. It sure helps in cleaning out cooked on foods, like burnt cheese. I've noticed it makes it smell better too. You also might want to smell your kitchen curtains to see if they picked up some of the smell. I know burnt popcorn smell seems to hang around for a while. Someone at work burned some, and when i got home I noticed I could smell it on my clothes. Ewwwww! |

We have washed the curtains cause they reeked. Found out from BIL the popcorn is the cause for a lot of kitchen fires especially in microwaves. He says from the burn mark on the bottom that it was on fire but when we turned it off it snuffed it out before it got going. Now I am scared of Popcorn. The more you disaprove, the more fun I am having!

I'm really glad our microwave has a "popcorn" button. My kids know to push it and then the 2 button for the size bags we buy. Aimee, Is the smell getting any better yet? |

really thought it was getting better. My gal pal came over and said Man what is that smell I asked her how bad it was her response was it would make her swear off popcorn I guess we are getting used to it. It sounds like a great idea to get a new micro with that feature. Ours is about 15 yrold We only use it to defrost food, blanche corndogs, and pop popcorn. The more you disaprove, the more fun I am having!

something that works for me (for most Odors like burnt stuff) is to put some vinegar in bowls around the house.. It doesn't take much and if you put one in each room it speeds up the process. Good for fireplace odors too.Good luck. P.s. you don't smell the vinegar...... |

Cut up some fresh lemons, put them in water and bring them to the boil in the micro - it will help deodorise. Placing similar bowls in the affected rooms may help - certainly did the trick after I burned some fish ppphhheeeewwweeee |

This won't help remove the smell..but have you ever tried an air popper? They're a lot of fun, and we never burn popcorn anymore since it comes flying out into the bowl as soon as it's popped. Ours was about $20. It's great because you can pop the popcorn without any added fat or calories, and then you can add whatever toppings you like. Of course you could drizzle it with butter if you wanted! We like to spray it with a little cooking spray, then mix it with Butter Buds and salt.
