We love her, we hate her. Here's a new twist on the Martha Stewart debacle....

Take the Martha Stewart Quiz!
By Beth Gillin
Knight Ridder Newspapers

1. Martha Stewart was indicted because she's:
(a) A woman.
(b) A suspected insider trader.
(c) A sacrificial lamb (best served deboned, rubbed with virgin olive oil and organic garlic, and lightly seasoned with thyme).

2. She should not have sold her ImClone stock the day before it collapsed because:
(a) She used to be a broker and knows the rules.
(b) Stocks, like souffles, sometimes fall. When a souffle deflates, it should not be discarded but scooped into cut-glass bowls and garnished with raspberries.
(c) Just let a thrifty domestic diva try to save $160,000 by getting rid of a loser in her portfolio, and suddenly she's a greedy witch.

3. Martha Stewart will be remembered in history for:
(a) Reviving the endangered art of homemaking.
(b) Reforming federal prisons by introducing soothing pastels to walls and curtains.
(c) Making an entire generation of high-powered executive women feel guilty because they cannot crochet.

4. Martha Stewart's devoted followers believe this whole thing is terribly unfair because:
(a) Enron's Ken Lay is not doing the perp walk.
(b) Neither is Global Crossing's Gary Winnick.
(c) Halloween is just around the corner, and who's going to edit the pumpkin-carving issue of Martha Stewart Living magazine?

5. The most valuable lesson Martha Stewart has learned is:
(a) Never trust a cute broker.
(b) Never snub a federal investigator.
(c) Never lie to Congress, which can subpoena your cell-phone records.

6. The moral of the Martha Stewart saga is:
(a) Measure twice, cut once.
(b) Don't get too big for your britches, young lady.
(c) The law applies equally to all (except, maybe, for Ken Lay and Gary Winnick).

Shelly we ought to be ashamed of ourselves for making fun of that classy broad. ROFL If she goes to jail, how will we get through Halloween and Thanksgiving? That's it, I'm going to Washington and picket congress. Anyone care to join me? ROFL

Although I think Martha is bipolar, I also admire her business sense. If she was a man, people would be falling down and praising her. They just can't stand a strong woman!
I think it's hysterical that she made her fortune being the queen of homemaking at a time when the general public thought it was a dying art. Now that's smart!

As long as men need clean underwear and groceries in their bellys there's profit to be made.

You gals are Funny. I am a known Stewart-hater. not that she is a woman not that she is bi polar. Hey she was a trucker for a while.

My dislike of the woman comes from the way she treats her guests and her mother. It is like she is one of those evil people that put you down with a smile. I really hate it when she is sewing and you can tell she goofed and they spliced the sceane. Now sandra betzina she will sew and the line will be crooked and she will admit it. I am not Stewart and i am so glad. She is tighter then an eight day clock.
The more you disaprove, the more fun I am having!

I agree Shelleymoon, her business acumen is obvious. Women are pushy and self serving in business, men are aggressive. What is that?

She is not going to go down without a fight, but her reputation as a homemaker will never fly either.

I mentioned her once in one of my newsletters. A lady emailed me back and said if I ever mentioned her name again, she would unsubscribe. Now, that is "hate" for you.

For the money she saved in that little deal, she probably spends in a year on her wardrobe. It was a pittance compared to what some trade on the stock market. It certainly wasn't worth all the bad publicity she got and now the indictment. I'm sure she regrets the whole mess, it wasn't worth it.

Too bad she doesn't spend some of that money on a hair do and makeup. She has the worst looking hair I've every seen. It's a close race between her and Dianne Sawyer with the hair . Too bad most of us will never have the time to grow our own potatoes to make our own potato chips among other homegrown wonders or iron our 100% special cotton linens with a professional laundry sized ironer. The woman gives me a real pain.

What I've always enjoyed is seeing the strong emotions she brings out in people. You either love her or you hate her. There are ver few in betweens.
I think the funniest thing I ever saw was her cooking with Sesame Street's Elmo on her show. I was still working in the metro newsroom at that time, so there were television sets all around. Our sister TV station carried her show and it came on. We turned up the volume and a whole roomful of cynical journalists stopped work and laughed our butts off. She even treated little Elmo bad and he's just a puppet for goodness sake!
I agree that a small gain on those stocks might make her lose her whole empire and that's not a good thing.
