 I live in the south (nw FL to be exact) and they allow fireworks down here...behind our house (the main street we all turn down to get home) is a house where every other weekend they set off fireworks...yes year round, rain or not. I've been told by the fire dept not to bother calling anyone about it, because it's not a problem they can/want to deal with. The noise and mess it makes is bad...(not to mention the danger from fire when it's dry)
Is it weird to be angry/bothered by this ??? ::wondering:::nc:

I would be totally angry about it? How crazy is that to be going on that often year round? You'd think they would change the laws.

Oh Chrys, doesn't your neighborhood or city have any ordinances against the noise? That would drive me nuts! We have neighbors here who have those very loud stereos in their cars, the kind that make your windows rattle and wake you out of a sound sleep, and HURT when you're in the car next to them....I can call the cops and they'll be here in less than two minutes. I get so tired of calling, though. I just want to MOVE!

See if you can find a mediator in your city - they're usually willing to help work these things out. Blech, I don't blame you for being upset!

Do you have a homeowners' association? Maybe you can convince them to try to do something about it.

I don't mind once or twice a year, but those fireworks are a real pain...noise, litter, damage to rooftops and vehicles that happen to be in the way of falling bits, and don't forget the constant allure to children who don't know how to handle them properly. I would be so ticked off if someone was setting fireworks off all the time. Grrrrrrrrr.
Take care,
Donna

Thankfully, fireworks are illegal in Midwest City and Oklahoma City and they enforce it. You can end up in jail if they even catch you with them in your car bringing them into the city limits.

I was taking our dog for a walk last night, and wouldn't you know it...someone was out setting off fireworks. It wasn't even dark yet! Anyway, it scared the living daylights out of the dog. He couldn't get home fast enough, and I thought he was going to hyperventilate. This morning when I took him out again, he refused to go down that same street again. :bluesad: Our daily walks used to be his favourite activity... but now :nervous:
Take care,
Donna

The fireworks this year began 2 weeks before the 4th of July and lasted til 2 weeks after!

Certain kinds of fireworks are not allowed in the state-but they bring them in from Washington, which is less than 5 across the bridge from Portland anyway.

If fireworks go off close to my home, I get out the hose and start spraying anything within a 25 foot radius. It gets the point across that I'm not about to have the roof of my house catch on fire. They usually move down the street, or, get all their fireworks soaked. And fireworks are expensive!

I am not passive on this issue, as you probably can surmise.
