well I finally went and did it!!! I registered with all you guys!!! i've been lurking for a few weeks, you could say i'm addicted, i read your site about 4 times a day! you seem to have so much fun discussing everything, and i can't wait to get some input on just about everything!!! I have been sewing on and off for about 20, 25 years, my old singer finally went kaput about 4 months ago and i purchased a euro pro from hsn and so far so good, i also have a elna serger that is so nice for finishing the seams on things i have made, i've made a few flannel rag quilts the biggest one was huge, (about 10 to 12 yards of flannel) i made it in two pieces and then put the two pieces together!! (that was interesting snipping all those squares) . I've sewn quite a few clothing items for my kids and myself, vests, jumpers, i finally did button holes and zippers within the last year, that were not as bad as i thought they were going to be!!! ( i wish i had known about you guys then) I was shocked how easily they went!!! I've been reading up on the duct tape maniquins!!! how interesting!! has anyone actually made one of these? I'd love to try one, i think it would be so much easier to get things to fit right and to hang right. and my sewing room is a mess most of the time, not neat like some of yours!!! i have 2 large tables (5x5 i think), i was able to purchase them when a ames store closed in our area last year, they were used as their cutting tables, so they had the markings for yardage already on them! one is table height and the other one is counter height, that i love to cut out patterns on, and shelves and old dressers to store my fabric and all the goodies i've aquired over the years. well any suggestions on the maniquins? I'd love to read about how you went about getting them to stay in the shape you had before cutting them off. thanks so much for having this forum, i just love it! Marge

Hi Maps, welcome to Sew Whats New.:bluesmile

I am glad you decided to join us finally. I do NOT have a neat sewing room. It is in a shambles most of the time.

I have never tried a mannequin so I can't help you there, but wanted to say hello and welcome. :Canada:

Hi Maps and welcome. As Mary just said, my sewing room is not neat either. Heaven forbid, my dh would think I had decided to quit sewing if he ever walked in and the place was all straight and neat! Besides, it's more fun tryng to remember where you last saw something you need at the moment -- like a ruler, rotary cutter, thread snippers, etc. LOL

Hi Maps, Count me on the messy sewing room. At the moment I have two quilt tops one cut out blouse, a pair of shorts for by brother to hem, and God knows what else is lerking on my desk. Anyway, I have a Euro-Pro basic machine I purchased from HSN a year ago and I loved that machine. But as you can see by all of us, one machine is not enough for this addiction. I stepped up to a Janome 9000 which sews, serges, quilts and embroiderys. I also have a Euro-Pro serger which is a fantastic machine also.

I know you'll love it here. We share so much with each other and learn a lot also.

Welcome Maps. I have a Euro-Pro also that I bought from ebay. I was very pleasantly surprised at how well it handles and how quiet it runs. Although I don't sew on it regularly. I have about 11 machines, all Janome/NewHome and I use those, but I will be giving the Euro-Pro to my new daughter-in-law. I know it will be reliable and it has enough nifty features to keep her happy.

As for my sewing room, well I'm almost embarrassed to say that I keep it immaculately neat. I't almost a fetish with me. The room is quite small so if there are even a few things out of place the whole room looks like a tornado hit it. But I always clean up every little scrap and notion when I am done with a sewing session. That way when I come back I'm not battling disorganization as well as sewing challenges. My biggest problem is I've got way to much stuff! And an even bigger problem is that I just keep buying more.....and more.....and more.

Hello;

I'm hopeful that you might be able to help me. I bought a euro pro model 9120 then I moved and have missplaced my manual. Can you tell me if there is a phone number or such that I can contact to get a replacement book. Thanks for any help.

Welcome, Marge,

Glad to see you here. My sewing room is neat but it's not tidy! (How's that?)

How lucky you were to come upon those sewing tables and that you had room for them.

Lennie - you need to have a better eye for detail. :bg: Check the dates.

Melinye - there's good news and bad news - good news is welcome, we're always happy to help and see (virtual anyway) new faces - bad news - this might get a better response as a new post in machine talk. The discussion you've posted onto the end of was started in 2003. I can't help you but I'm sure somebody will be able to.

Susie that's part of what tipped me off to it being an old post - no photo for you and zero posts. I wondered how Maps had hit 150 without me having at least noticed her. So I went back and looked a bit more carefully. I thought at first you'd been ripped off again.

It took me a while to see what was going on too Pauline. I remember maps on the boards but haven't seen her on in a while so I knew something was up or there was two Maps.

Good idea though to go back and welcome EVERYONE who's ever joined SWN. I could really chalk up the posts!!! :bg: You guys ever look at how many people have joined and only posted once or twice? There are hundreds. Wow! I can see the numbers now.....

:coffee: Yes I've been around along time ...I would post and my numbers would get all mixed up ...then I would lose them ...I'd have to sign up again...I use to do the Birthday's for Mary ...then I gave that up to Maps if I'm not mistaken... I was always on the roads so much...maps kept it up for me...I'm going to PM her to see where she is. :bolt:

That is so sweet. Being a little "off" makes it fun! How fun is normal? BOOOOOOORING........... There's no such thing as "normal" anyway.
