A reader of mine sent this and I think it is important to all of us. Read carefully and heed her suggestion. Hi Mary, I received an email from ebay the other day saying I was in violation of something I didn't understand and that they needed information to be sure of my identity. There was a form to fill out starting with my user name and my password, and it went on and on asking vital info about my bank accounts and numbers, my drivers license number, soc security, pin numbers, credit card numbers and ex dates. They asked for every vital statistic that would've put me in all kinds of jeopardy if I had answered it and given out this information. I contacted ebay and they answered that it was not an email sent by them, that they don[t ask for that kind of info in an email and it was good I sent it to them for verification. I think it would be a good thing to remind your readers that no one should respond to any email that asks for this vital info and to send it to ebay if it says it is from them. This could've been very serious. I know these emails are sent all the time, but we need to be aware of what we are sending out and be careful of these identity thieves. My boss even said she might've fallen for it. See, even the most astute may have a weak moment and do something we may not have done if we were thinking. Just thought you might like to know this. Thanks for all your tips. I love'em! ginger MaryW

Have any of you reported these scams to your respective State AttorneyGenerals -- Consumer Protection Divisions? This can be stopped you know and the people who are doing it prosecuted. We have an investigator and an attorney on staff here in the Oklahoma AG Consumer Protection Division that handle nothing but internet scam, pornography, etc. The only way to stop it is to report it to the proper authorities.
