I used to moderate a site in Yahoo....I unsubscribed a couple of days ago, without saying anything to anyone. I took over the site as a favor to the people there and the 'owner' who is ill. Last week I started having nightmares for no reason. But since I've left the other site, the nightmares have stopped, so I guess there really was a reason. It was a site dedicated to an old computer web. It started back in 1985 and was for a certain kind of computer. Some of us were great friends and there were always the trouble makers. (just like now...people never change) A couple of the people in there were making me the 'reason' for all the worlds ills. ( I just think they had nothing better to do with themselves and had some sort of mental problems, better fixed 'outside' and not online at the expense of others). So I felt like leaving and I did. I found out long ago that some people just cannot be reasoned with, they can't hear you, only themselves. I feel kinda sad and relieved at the same time. I've known some of these people since 1986. ( I used to 'work' as a 'guide' (ie someone who keeps the peace online) for 6 years) But sometimes you can only take so much and then you have to end it. I would have spoke my mind, but why bother when no one listens to you in the first place and I wasn't gonna make myself a target anymore. Thank you all for listening...I realize this isn't your problem, but I had to tell someone, anyone and I think some of you know how weird some people can be.... Chrys

We're glad to have you with us Chrys. I pretty much stay with Sew-whats-New as some of the other boards I have visited always seem to be have some sort of personal uproar going on. Mary is very fast in bringing a screeching halt to that kind of thing on these forums. Patsy P.S. I like to think of SWN as a happy cybercorner where everyone is welcome as long as they behave themselves and conduct themselves appropriately. Patsy

Chrysantha, I know exactly what you mean. Weird is a good word, but some I have met here were more than just weird. LOL. I certainly make lots of mistakes sometimes and come down too hard every once in a while. But I am not going to have bickering and insults around here, it's not what we are all about. I hope you can spend some pleasant time here with us. Let me know if you have any suggestions for this site. I work here ALL the time and don't look at other sites enough to get a good idea of what they are doing. I appreciate anyone who can give me ideas or constructive comments. You know the visitors to a site come and go. Every couple of years there is a major shift in tone, and content. When a few are there to complain, or sometimes even one, trouble comes. People are very brave behind a keyboard and sometimes get carried away with insults and accusations. Believe me, I have had more than my fair share of it. Maybe you just need to take a different view to what you would like to do with your computer skills. Anyway, we are glad to have you with us. MaryW

When my husband bought a new laptop we got a year of AOL free so I checked out their boards. They don't compare with this one. Mostly they are a bunch of crazy old ladies taking themselves too seriously. Here we may be a bunch of crazy old ladies but I don't think anyone takes us seriously. Dorothy |
