Do you girls read, other than Sew News and Threads:bluesmile

I have read A Boy Called It. Wow, what a jolt that was. Also read his next one, The Lost Boy.

I am also starting Kate Remembered, the biography of Katherine Hepburn.

I'm in the household queue for Harry Potter 5! I have also started a new series by Robin Hobb, the Farseer Trilogy. I'm third in line for book 3 on that too (not that we are a family of readers you know!) So to keep myself occupied I've started a new genre and have jumped to the golden age of crime fiction! One Inspector Lindsey down and one Philip Marlowe under way. The wierd thing is, reading the Philip Marlowe I can hear it in my head being read by the actor Michael Gambon.

Well....I just read Harry Potter #5 and Janet Evanovich's "To The Nines"...I'm now on a Lawerence Block's,' Burglar in the Rye'....then I have a new Lisa Scottoline, " Dead Ringer" waiting for me.
I just sent about 25 books to my sister...we trade books once a month or so...so in about 2 days I'll be into my 're-read' pile, because I've already 'eaten' my new books.. :bg:

DS and I are reading Harry Potter 5 together, he won't let me read ahead though, darn it!

I am also in the midst of one about ADD called Driven to Distraction-excellent book for anyone interested, very readable and informative.

I've got one going that is great to sit and read in the park when I take the kids, called Things I Like About America, written sort of as short stories about a man's travels through the country, just living and working. Very entertaining although I am not a very good book reviewer.

I just finished one called Into The Forest that was excellent as well. It was written about a family's return to living off the forest as our ancestor's once did. Great story development although it was only mentioned in passing what the circumstances were that made the power go off, food run out, etc. so that this was necessary in the first place (at least she didn't take the all too easy way out and make it about nuclear war). I guess that wasn't the part of the story she was really driven to tell.

I guess I've rambled on long enough!

Well, when I get some time to read without kids crawling on me(why do kids leave you alone until you sit down with a book, then they want in your lap?) I have been reading the Lord of The Rings Trilogy.

I remember those days.. When I could get out of the house alone, (back then, couldn't afford shopping or movie) I would go to the nearest branch public library and just sit and read for an hour or two.. WHAT A JOY!!!This summer I'm catching up on some James Patterson books that I had missed.. (and a couple of new ones).. I re-read 'When the Wind Blows' before I started the sequel "Lake House". Both great.. Different, but great. Now, I'm reading Beach House by Patterson. Earlier, I read Roses Are Red, and Cat and Mouse in paperback, those are a couple of his older ones..Also read the Bone Vault by Feinstein (I think thats her name, the New York DA novelist).I've got one by Dean Koontz to read also..Can you tell I like suspense ??

Well, I feel like the oddball here. I've been reading non fiction. I just finished Reading "The Complete Cheapskate" by Mary Hunt. I've been having money problem and this book is already helping me after a month. But I'm still reading my sewing magazines faithfully of course :bg:

I'm still waiting for book 3 of Farseer, gave up on Phiplip Marlowe, read H Potter V and have had a happy time with various watercolour technique books out of the library. I enjoy painting, but I'm still trying to findmy style,I'm getting happier with what I produce so things can't be all bad!
In desperation am re reading Robert Heinlein Ancient Books - again.

Yes nana, worst case of child abuse in California history. I would love to know whatever happened to that woman.

My book, Kate Remembered is not what I thought it would be. It covers a lot of background of movies she made. I wanted to hear more of her style and how she affected other actors and actresses.

I just started reading 'a patchwork planet'. it has nothing to do with patchwork tho! so far, i'm enjoying it. i read a lot, novels only, some fictious, some historical. i love time travel novels, because it's something i would do if it were possible.
although i buy lots of quilting magazines (an obsession), i never read them. i just tear out the patterns i like and throw them to the recycle bin.

I am reading mostly women sleuth books. Loved Janet Evanovich series and read them all. If you like quirky and funny who done it books, I'd recommend the Lawrence Sanders McNally series. So funny! I love his style.

Magazines I ready are "Grace" for size 14+ and Sew News. I finally purchased a mannequin and named her "Leilani" to go with my Hawaiian dress phase. I have absolutely enjoyed creating patterns by draping over the contours of the dress form. I can't believe it's taken me this long to do so.

I am also reading books on beadwork and making jewelry as well as learning about Fimo dough buttons and beads-even bought myself a pasta machine on eBay.

Broke out the knitting needles for all the fabulous yard purchased through eBay last Winter and winding balls of yarn for my next Aran knit sweater project. So many ideas and so little time...
