I think the summer doldrums has hit my house. Everyone is kind of bored. The summer weather has been rather dreary, foggy and blah for about a week now. The kids are getting bored.

Time for a trip, a party, something. It's too quiet around here. I am used to chaos, noise and a mess. Well, if I want a mess I can just glance around myself here in the sewing room.

I am going to start some fall projects for myself. Maybe a couple of things for Thanksgiving. I need new tablecloth and napkins anyway.

I'm looking forward to the kids getting back to school and getting on a schedule again.

has it been summer? I spent the first 4 weeks in the hospital with my Dad & the last 3 checking on him first thing in the morning (Which usually means 2 or 3 hours at his house) then home to take DD to work by 2 pm check on Dad again Then pick Dd up at work 6pm get dinner & do laundry. Then I colapse on the computer or in front of the TV. It has gotten better. We have been leaving Dad for more time alone. I have 7 siblings so we are taking turns making sure he has dinner every night but everyone else is employed outside the home so I get the bulk of the daytime. I don't mind most of the time. I did take last Thursday off from Dad (called him in morning) & took my kids & grands to the beach for a picnic. We have scheduled a 3 day vacation for the end of the month right before school starts. I have informed the rest of the family that it is their turn. He should be OK by himself but he gets depressed being alone since he can't drive
yet. He goes to the psychiatrist this afternnon for a med. adjustment I hope it works.
Sorry this is so long but it has been a long summer.

Barb, I sympathize. Because you do not work full time doesn't mean you have nothing to do. You need the time to recupe. It's not too hard on the body but your state of mind is also very important. Enjoy your time off.

LOL maps... you are getting antsy counting the days till school starts. I remember those days well and I wish I could have them all back again. LOL!
Mary, my nieces have been coming over telling me how bored they are. They all drive and have cars so I told them they should go to the local lakes to swim or the local pools. Their mother tells them they should clean their house while she is at work. Theres not alot to do around this area in the summer so kids just have to use their imaginations as to how to keep themselves from getting bored. Both girls have jobs but they are still bored. Go figure. This is the first year I can remember them not being on any summer softball or swimming teams.
Middle age is when you choose your cereal for the fiber, not the toy.

Do you still have the doldrums? Maybe you and I are Fall people. That's the time of rebirth and new ideas for me. I prefer the cooler weather and get out my knitting patterns and pants patterns to make final adjustments before looking for that perfect piece of soft wool for slacks. And maybe a jacket to match. That's about the only tailored item I make. And I feel so sophisticated in a custom-tailored blazer. It will be worn all season and I always feel proud of how the jacket turns out.

Bring on the Fall!
