This may be of interest to you if you work with or collect old sewing machines. The International Sewing Machine Collectors’ Society, which is based in London, is having a convention in the United States this October. Most of you who know me, either personally or through the "wonder" of these e-mail boards, know that I am not a collector, but will always retain a great interest in these fine old machines. When I retired in 1996, I thought that my days of going to sewing machine conventions were past, but with the deal that ISMACS has put together, and the opportunity to personally meet so many of you with whom I have corresponded, I cannot resist. I have blocked off the time, and will be attending the convention in Charlotte, NC from October 3-5. I have conveyed my intentions to Graham Forsdyke of ISMACS, and he has graciously agreed that, if there is any way that any attendees may benefit from my knowledge of the 1960-1980 era Viking/Husqvarna machines, it will be a welcome addition to the affair. I’m posting this at a (hopefully) fairly early time, so that if there is any way I can influence others to come, who share my enthusiasm for these machines, I will. I hope that I will have the opportunity to put faces with many names that I have only known over the Internet, and if you have any questions or problems with the Vikings that I specialized in, bring them along. You can find all the information including a registration form at: http://www.ismacs.net/ See you in Charlotte! Bill Holman http://www.geocities.com/wghmch/index.html |
