I just got back from the Kamloops area and it is hard to believe what that area is going through at this time. I drove down the Yellowhead Highway about 12 hours before the McLure fire broke out. What looked lovely and green is now black. Two small communities have burnt to the ground. Barriere has had a few homes burnt but most people were lucky. My 88 year old FIL and his 80 year old wife were evacuated from their home 18 miles north. Thank goodness my DH's brother drove by their home and took them to 100 Mile House.
The Strawberry Creek fire just outside of Kamloops started as my DD and I were heading home from Kamloops and it grew very quickly. If that wasn't bad enough, a fire started up south of Kamloops towards Vernon. For 3 days we saw only the fires on TV. To think where we lived and travelled will be charred for years to come.
The majority of BC is tinder dry and has had little rain this summer. We pray for rain daily. The northern part of the province has cooled off but not the central part. Hopefully that will change soon.
Please keep all the homeless people in your prayers at this time.

I saw pictures of Kamloops surrounding area. It is awful what these fires have done. It was a beautiful part of our country. :bluesad:
