My father-in-law called tonight and said my 'littlest' sister-in-law
(my husbands sister) has a brain tumor...it's pressing on her optic nerve and may be difficult to remove completely. I think some prayers are needed this time....please....thank you...

My husband developed Syringomylea after being hurt on the job when he fell over a piece of equipment. He smacked his head, head first into the pavement and felt pain in his back for a long time. Two years later, when he couldn't walk very well, he finally got on a health plan and went to get ex-rays. He was told that he had been walking around for the past 2 years with a broken back! Apparently, depending on the particular discs (I hope I'm getting this part right) that are blown out, you can still function somewhat but not as good as you should be. He was 46 at the time the accident happened.

He was fortunate to find the only known doctor in Oregon to do this kind of an operation and is the only known person to have vertabrae replacement surgery. While doing the surgery, they found he also had a tumor on his spine, which is inoperable. Told him he will probably be in a wheelchair for the rest of his life within 3 years. And, he has 11 fractured teeth.

We have been praying. The church has been praying for him and we are educating ourselves daily on the Syringomylea condition. Last week he found out he has developed a hernia from a problem associated with torn stitches of his surgery.

I swear I'm not making this up! Sometimes, I just wonder what the message God is putting before us, for how else can our rational minds comprehend the enormity of the situation. All in all, we believe we are here to tell the tale so others don't loose faith. Ditto with 911 and other calamities we hear happen around the world.

Still, we count our blessings. Things could be worse no matter what the circumstances of our own lives.

* God never gives us more than we can handle, but I wish he didn't trust us so much!

Web2,

I am so sorry to hear of all your tragedy. I often wonder how people face things that are put on them one after the other and thank God I've never been tested beyond my faith in God. I think of Job and all the woo's he had thrust upon him and how he made it through and each day I have problems I wonder why I have been put through these test then I remember not to ask why, but to thank God I have so little of a burden. I was telling someone the other day about how people endure children with cancer and dying and I don't think I could handle it but I don't even want to think one day I might. I thank God I have 5 healty roudy grandchildren who make messes and walk all over my heart and grip about the mud and trash they leave in their wake and then have to think Thank God they are able to do it. My motto in life is "If I think I have it bad look at the people who are worse and they are smiling. Puts it all in perspective.

Hugs and Love to you and your hubby and I'll be praying for you.

Thank you so much. You are too kind.

My daughter and I were in the car after her dental appointment today, me grousing about how she has to wait 5 months to be seen again for her dental work by this cheesy state subsidized dental plan.

We then began to pull out of the parking lot when a man rolled by in his electric wheelchair-laying almost toally backwards, horribly disfigured and distorted, probably from birth.

It struck me at that moment that this was God's way of saying, "Count your blessings". Point taken and I send a silent prayer to that horribly disfigured man in his permanent state of never being able to walk again in his life, or being able to run, ski, walk on the beach, etc. All the things I have been able to do in my life with my perfectly healthy (although overweight) body.

What a petty thing I was grousing about in comparison to his situation. I was humbled by that moment in time and thoroughly convinced that God had a hand in that moment in time. It was a good lesson learned, and remembered. A picture worth a thousand words...
