I thought I might try to develop a line of reversible garments, if it's possible. Anyone have any tips on how to make ordinary patterns reversible, and what kinds of styles work? Or how to alter patterns so they are?

Hmm, sounds interesting to be sure. A lot of garments might be fine to turn into reversible garments. I guess closures would be one aspect, another would be fabric selection.

Sandra Betzina is a master of the reversible skirt and pants. In her book No Time to Sew, she does the full pull on pants and how to make them reversible. She also does a reversible vest. I have also seen her do a reversible skirt, which, I'm assuming, is along the same lines at the reversible pants, at least at the waistline.

I saw somewhere a lady who made a whole line of kids clothes that were reversible. Can't remember now for the life of me where I found her.

Years ago, I saw a sewing program with an older man on it.. He used an old black singer and made a shell to be worn under a suit jacket and used 4 different colors and made it reversible with the neckline large enough to slip over your head and used 2 fronts instead of front and back.. He emphasized that you could not remove your jacket because the back and front of the shell were different colors... He made it this way so you could have 4 different looks out of 1 blouse. (as long as you kept your jacket on) I kept this idea in my sewing notes for years, but I never made one.. I don't like keeping my jacket on all the time..

Thanks, everyone! These are great ideas. I'm still trying to find my "niche"......
