Angie....not sure where you went wrong. I learned to sew back in the 9th grade...I am now 31 and just starting back at it again. I made a really easy dress by Simplicity...Sewing for Dummies #5528...it opnly has 4 pieces to it and is sew simple. Really lays things out for you. I made my daughter a dress and a skirt for school. The dress is more detailed, but the skirt is fairly easy. It is one of those cheaper ones on the rack at Walmart...number 6843. It does have a zipper though so beware. Try the sewing for dummies patterns. I watch for Hobby Lobby to put them on sale then stock up for future use. Maybe these will be easier for you to start with. I know it can be frustrating and very costly! to get started. Just take your time, read thru your directions before you even cut, and be sure you understand everything, then if all else fails come here and yell help. I don't post much, but I have read some really great tips here. Everyone is great. Good Luck Corinne |

Angie and Corrine welcome to Sew-Whats-New. Angie take a look at this web site which can be accessed from the main page here under Kim's Help. http://www.sew-whats-new.com/kim/pieces.shtml Kim does a good job of explaining how to read your pattern. Most of the patterns I've used have fairly good instructions if you take your time and read your instructions one step at a time from the very front page until the garment is finished and ready to wear. Post any questiions you have and we'll all try to help you. Patsy Patsy
