Has anyone had any experience with this? Good, bad, indifferent. Was going to use my 50% coupon at Joann's for one but chickened out since I hadn't heard anything about it.

Brockie I have the 60mm and the 45mm blade sharpeners. I use them all the time. However, the trick to using these sharpeners is being able to keep a good steady pressure on the blade and using the same number of rotations on each side of the blade. My dh usually does my blades for me as he is stronger and can keep a consistent pressure on the blade that I haven't been able to achieve. Of course, he is also experienced at sharpening knives, which helps.

Thanks Patsy. I'm going to use my 50% coupon for it the next time I go to Joann's. Was there yesterday and again this morning. Couldn't pass up all those Butterick patterns for 60 cents each and no limit. Also stocked up on the flannel for the grands. They all want new pj's for this winter.

I have the 45mm sharpener and am not impressed with it. I do all those things about keeping steady pressure and counting how many times I turn it for each side, but the blade is only a smidgeon sharper.

So I put it away and put in a fresh blade. Someday when I have 2 dull blades I will try the tip I read about using two blades at once. The theory was that the blade is really not so much dull as nicked. And with two, the chances the the nicks in both blades would happen to fall in exactly the same spot is slim.

Replacing a blade every two or three years is not really a lot of money to spend.
