I am making the straps for a bumper pad. I am having a very difficult time turning these inside out. The hole is only 5/8" wide. Anybody have any tips on how to do this? Thanks!

Here is an easy way to turn any size straps without a tube-turner.

Get a long piece of twine or string that does not break easily.
Lay it in the middle of one strap with about 2" or so over one end, fold the other half over (right sides together of course), stitch the end with the string hanging out and down one side as uusual. Trim corners on an angle if you usual do that (I do to reduce bulk).
Hold the loose end of the string and gently start pulling the fabric right side out. You can pull a bit on the string too once you get it started. Once out, pick out stitches holding string and remove it. Sometimes I just make the strap an inch longer and then cut it off but if you already have them cut out you can't do that.

Make sense? I hope so.
Good luck:Canada:

This forum is awesome! I found an easier way of doing this without having to do any stitching at all. After searching the Beginner's Sewing session I found this trick by MaryW.

"Never mind turning. Cut your straps wider, maybe 1 1/2" wide. Turn long edges towards middle, fold strap in half lengthwide and stitch down entire length of strap along folded edge. Center your seam in the middle and press. Hope this is quick for you"

Also instead of sewing I used liquid stitch (glue) which provided for a clean look and no hassle.

String mmmmmmm I like that idea, saves on tube turners too!especially if doing something like a skinny strap dress.Thank you for that tip,so simple why didn't I think of that lol.Sometimes i use a drink straw as long as it isn't too long a strap, and pulled it thru there, with a knitting machine hook.:bg:
If at first you don't suceed, try-try again!

The string does work. I've tried yarn but I have a tendancy to pull it too tight and break it so I use kitchen twine, etc. You can do very tiny straps with it too. It is easier to cut your straps longer then needed and then cut them to size after turned.
