I wanted to share a little tip I figured out.

We all know it is not good to leave thread open for extended periods, and myself like many use thread stands. Mine holds 27 Cones and I leave them all full for when I need that color. Sure ave me time. If anyone knows what Lean is this is it :)

Anyway leaving all this exposed thread can spoil it and seeing I am a smoker I don't like to get the smell on my threads. So I have purchased 30 spice bottles at the dollar store (2 for a buck) drill a small hole in the bottom for the thread to come through and wallah a cover for all my thread. The bottles are see through so I can see the colors. The only thing I had to do was rub them with a fabric softener sheet to remove the static.

And now my wife Cheryle has enough spices for the rest of our lives:cool: :bluesmile

Neat idea. This may sound stupid, but do you leave the thread in the container then run it thought the thread stand then to your machine, or do you take it out each time you need it???

I put a hole in the botom of the bottle run the thread through the hole and leave the container in place while using the thread. Works like a charm. The hole has to be a clean drilled hole with no burs. Plastic kinda melts when drilled and when it cools the extra bur just breaks off. Small 1/8" drill does the trick. Put the bottle upsode done over the spool.
I'll take a picture if it would help.

Hi Dorothy,

Walking distance! Where in NY are you? Were in Liverpool by Syracuse.

I run three e-shops. As noted in my signature. Embroidery being the newest. And actually the one I know the best. Been sewing for most of my life on bigger machines. But fabric and thread is allot the same no matter what you sew.

The other two stores are Shoppersfair. A general merchandise store. Small appliances, camping gear, and allot more.
SassyZone is lingerie. That is what I'm doing right now. Typing my face off to add some new items for the holidays.

The company site is Minderson.com it has links to all the others. I am sham less when it comes to plugs :bg:

Have a great night and nice hearing from a local.
