Hi!

I bought a skirt waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too big for me and I need to take it in. The skirt is a size 14 and I am size 4-6. What is the best way for me to do this without messing anything up. It is 100% polyester and a solid color. It seems like it shouldn't be too hard, but I want to know the best way to do it. You may wonder why I bought the dress so big. The reason is that I needed a particular color for a church service and this was the only size they had in that color. Thanks!!!

what type of skirt is it. You could make it into a gathered skit if it is a zippered on by eliminating the zipper and stitching the fly shut and adding elastic in the waist band. There are many ways to make is smaller. Do you wnat it to be a certain style??
The more you disaprove, the more fun I am having!

The skirt is a straight line skirt with a zipper and I pretty much want to keep it straight because I like the style. I pinned the skirt up yesterday taking 1 and a half inches off each side. Then I put it on and it fit, but I haven't sewn it yet.

YOu are on the right start. It is like reconstructing it. Just follow the lines. do a baste stitch before you cut anything off. then try it on to make sure you didnt make it to small. Once it fits the you can cut off the excess and then finish the edges.
