I kind of figured we'd have to go through this again soon but didn't figure it would be this soon. I got a call this morning around 5:00AM from my Step Sister, my step Dad has been sick and she went to wake him for dialysis she thought he slept through the clock but he was talking out of his head. She called the emergency unit out and they took him to the hospital with us behind him in my vehicle.

When we got to the hospital they told us he was in critical condition and we should call all the family. His body temp when we got there was 95 degrees F and his blood count was 14 which normal is around 40. He is bleeding in his throat. It's full of ulchers. He's a very sick man and has lost a lot of blood besides being on dialysis three times a week he has prostate cancer and heart trouble. He's not diabetic but the renial failure was due to uncontrolled high blood pressure he had for many years. I just lost my Mother in May and I know he's grieving for her and doesn't have the will to live anymore without her but we can pray for a easy passing. Thanks, you are all so wonderful in times like this.

His children live around the country from Mississippi, to Texas to Oregon but they are all here now with him in Louisiana. Please in your daily prayers if you will think of him and his children.

Love to all Susie

It's hard Susie, but sometimes the best healing God offers is to hand finish the job himself - may He look after your Step Dad

Thanks Jan, Bren and Mary,

I'm on my way to the hospital and wanted to report what is going on as of 8:00AM this morning. My S-Sister talked to the doctors this morning and he is still in Guarded condition and now they are telling her they really don't know where the bleeding is coming from, yes he does have ulcers in his throat but that is not bleeding enough to cause him to lose as much blood as he's losing. He has cancer and no one likes to use that bad word but it might be that acting up. He's had some bleeding in his intestines in the past but they couldn't find it by running a scope on him from the upper part of his body and from the lower part, it's somewhere in the middle where they can't get to. We'll have to see.

Thanks for all your prayers and I know God won't put anything more on someone's shoulders then they can handle so I have faith that he will guide us through all of this.

I'll keep in touch and again thanks you ladies are great.

Love Susie

My thoughts and prayers will be to give strength to you and your step-siblings and for an easy passing for your step-father. I think you're right, he has probably lost his will to live and if so, there is nothing you can do but be there with him and give him comfort to the end.
God Bless
I've decided to live forever - so far, so good.

Thank you so much everyone,

Here is the latest Update on his condition. You must all be praying mighty hard because he is sitting up in bed laughing with us and they might even put him in a room on the floor tomorrow. He is still weak and sick but he is coming out of whatever was wrong with him. He didn't remember going to the hospital in the ambulance. When I told him he said I didn't know I was brought in that way. They are still trying to find out where the bleeding is ocming from but it's stopped for the time being. They gave him 4 units of blood so far.

Again I can't thank you all enough for all the kindness and prayers you are all sending our way. You all are so great.

Love Susie

Susie,
Another saying is that God works in mysterious ways. We may never know why things go like they do but cherish each moment you have with your step Dad and family And you will be able to deal with what lies ahead.
Thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Have a great day.:bg:

Step Dad's condition update:

My step family is having to take one day at a time. He has cancer in his bones, it's in his spine, and in his sterum. He is suffering with pain in his hip so they are giving him pain medication and he is talking out of his head at times. We are not sure if it's the med. or the cancer has went to the brain. But some times he is okay and others he is telling you he see's things or tells you he is dead and you are dead with him.

Your thoughts and prayers are truely appreicated.

Thanks and Love to all

Susie

Thanks Mary,

They are going to move him into a critical care facility because he needs to start radiation as soon as possible and he is not strong enough so I don't know what they are going to do. He has to have dialysis three times a week and it's hard to find a place to put him that does dialysis and radiation treatments without moving him from one facility to another for each procedure. He had some internal bleeding from where they are not sure so that's a factor in all this also. I'll keep everyone posted on his condition. Thanks to each one of you for your thoughts and prayer during this time.

Love to all of you, Susie

My prayers are with you Susie! If anyone has some extras we could use some our way. DBIL went in to have some scar tissue removed from his stomach. The sugeon said it was an ulcer & scar tissue blocking his stomach opening. When they got in there they found a tumor in the Duadinum(sp). The surgeon had told yhem cancer does not grow there. They can't remove it because there is an artery too close. This man has lived the healthiest life of anyone I know. He has never smoked, drinks wine only 2or 3 times a yr. with dinner. exercises daily. Eats very little red meat. & watches his cholesterol very closely. He will do anything for anyone in need. He goes to church 2 or 3 times a week. They go to the oncologist next week to see what his options are but what he really needs now are prayers.
