As I'm sewing seams and pressing, I'm wondering if those "industrial" irons would help somehow to make inside seams on turned necklines lay flatter. I've never worked with any irons other than the typical, household steam iron. How would I go about researching the better irons to buy? Is there a manufacturing that is well known in this area? |

Hi!! As a professional I would HIGHLY recommend an industrial iron. Before I had my shop and I was doing it out of my house, I bought enough irons to pay for a couple of industrial irons. They are expensieve but you would never have to purchase another iron. There is a company called B & G Leiberman that has remanufactured industrial irons for around $120.00. It includes everthing you need. (Although I would advise Getting the shoe for it that prevents shine). I have one and I also have one that was $400.00 and they are equal as far as I am concerned. There are 4 of us in my shop using the irons 10 hours a day, 6 days a week. They really get a work out. If you can't find the company, let me know and I will get you the phone number. I hope this helps. Good Luck!!! Rhonda Rhonda

Thanks for the info Rhonda. I was on eBay yesterday, checking out the offerings. I thought what I might be looking for was a steamer but they only take out the wrinkles of hanging garments as far as I can tell. You'd think looking for an "industrial iron" would be a fairly simple task but the more I learn, the more confused I become! |

http://www.sewtrue.com/Irons.html This is just one site that I found. This is what you want for pressing. You can use them as a steamer also. I have one here at home too, and I steamed my curtains on the rod. I could never imagine having anything else now. They are really awesome. There is a wide price range from company to company and any of them are good. Please keep us posted on what you decide to do. Rhonda Rhonda

I'm doing research now on what's available. I'll definitely check out the site you mentioned. |
