i've always found it strange (or should that be frustrating) how few sewing patterns there are for men out there.
my boyfriend is quite a little clothes addict (we're kindred spirits lol) and i would love to sew more for him, but i find the choice of patterns very limiting.
having said that, burda seem to be moving forwarsd somewhat, with the addition of some quite modern menswear (and a rather cheeky chappie (http://www.burdamode.com/product.asp?catname=FASHION&rootcname=MoKat&category=Waesche&id=178451) modelling them!!)

anyone have any thoughts on this? do you sew for the men in your life?

I sew for my husband and my son. But, I mostly just make boxers and sweaters. I know what you mean about the pattern selection. Quite awhile ago I posted about mens patterns and some people gave me some good links. If you search for that post you can find the links.

I use the kwik sew patterns for men. They are great and the unisex ones are great also. DH loves them. There is one... Footie PJs it is only in the teen girls section but is has bust marks soooo I made him a set according to his measurements. tada
The more you disaprove, the more fun I am having!

aimee, that's so cool!
you've reminded me actually, that there doesn't seem to be many boys patterns around either... my guy is only a 30" waist (burda patterns only seem to go from 32")and he often buys teen boys clothes because they fit better... so i thought i could use a boys pattern but no luck in finding any yet...

My hubby only gets boxers because he is so doggone picky about what he wears. The only way I'd get him into a fabric store to help me pick out his own pattern or fabric would be if they merged with a music store and started selling guitars!

I do love making shirts though and I've got a great pattern that I treat myself to once in a while, very basic styling but fits well.

My son shows the same tendencies but at least DD loves what I make her, so far anyway-she's only in first grade and I'm sure that will change!

my man's a fussy boy too lol
simplicity patterns are half price here in the uk right now so i'm going to get some men's patterns... there's a nice 'design your own' man's shirt which i've been eyeing up for a while...

That's very strange. The ladies in the Hancock's Fabric where I shop love my husband. They always ask me when he's coming in to get me another gift certificate. He's actually much better at putting quilt fabrics together than I am, as far as color spectrum go. However, he is a paint chemist so that gives him an unfair advantage when it comes to color. In fact, he sees color spectrum and hues different than we do because he knows how each color is made.

People are funny! My husband always goes to the fabric stores with me. We travel a lot during the summer and checkout every fabric/quilt store we find. He finds more fabric for me to buy than I do!

Yesterday a carpenter came to give us a bid on installing our new sliding doors and when he started talking about his kids playing hockey, my husband pulled out my neckties and showed him the hockey ones. He discounted the installation in exchange for some ties! (It would have been cheaper to just pay for them, but I'm not complaining!)
