Hi Everyone,
I know I've seen instructions for this somewhere, but I can't remember where.

I'm sewing a tunic, and they've had me sew the front and back facings together at the side seams, then sew it to the neck line of the garment, then the underarm except for about 2". Now I'm supposed to turn the facing to the inside of the garment. I'm lost!

I know how it's supposed to end up - outside of both facing and garment showing smooth seams, right sides, and the 5/8" seam inside the garment. Then I turn in and handstitch the last two inches on each side.

I've turned this garment inside out 15 times, and am at my wit's end!

Could someone direct me to a link that would show pictures? I thought it was this website that I saw the instructions, but maybe not?

Thanks so much,

Lee Ann

Did you sew the shoulder seams?? they are supposed to be open and only neck and armhole seams stitched. also 5/8 inch seam allowance left unstitched on each shoulder on both seams.. turn , and press, then turn garment wrong side out and sew shoulder seams of garment together, being careful not to catch facings in the stitches. Trim seam and press. Then finally hand stitch facings down after neatly turning raw edges to inside.. Now you should have a beautiful top finished.. Hope this helps..

Whenever I have a problem with facings, I throw whatever I'm sewing onto my dressmaker's dummy. Once you can look at it in place, it all becomes clear. Don't have a dummy? That's what husbands, sons, daughters, sisters, etc. are for. Good luck.
