Hi Everyone, I know I've seen instructions for this somewhere, but I can't remember where. I'm sewing a tunic, and they've had me sew the front and back facings together at the side seams, then sew it to the neck line of the garment, then the underarm except for about 2". Now I'm supposed to turn the facing to the inside of the garment. I'm lost! I know how it's supposed to end up - outside of both facing and garment showing smooth seams, right sides, and the 5/8" seam inside the garment. Then I turn in and handstitch the last two inches on each side. I've turned this garment inside out 15 times, and am at my wit's end! Could someone direct me to a link that would show pictures? I thought it was this website that I saw the instructions, but maybe not? Thanks so much, Lee Ann (also posted on garment construction board) Weddingdance

Lee Ann, What exact pattern are you using? Maybe if we could see it, we could help more. I am not sure that I'm picturing your problem correctly. Is this a sleeveless tunic? Somehow I can not picture a one piece facing in anything except a sleeveless garment. But once the armscye seam is sewn, it is not possible to turn it right side out, unless either the shoulder seams or the side seams are still open, as I recall. Lala Chile Pepper from Texas

I can remember years ago, I made a sleeveless top that had a one piece facing for both neck and armhole. They were to be on the inside of the garment.

My former sewing teacher saved the day. She let me come to her house, where she instructed me to rip out the seams, and showed me how to sew them correctly. The pattern directions said "Sew then turn facings" but she had me turn facings, then sew, and it worked! She is a miracle-worker! Weddingdance
