Hi, I'm a new member, and I was looking for ideas to sew some Christmas ornaments, using velvet ( burgundy). This is to be a special item I'd like to do a tree ornament. I am using a housecoat that was my mother's and I want to make each family member a matching ornament, I thought I'd embelish them with a gold braid. However my mind has come up with a blank on what to use as a pattern. I'd like to stuff them with batting. This is to be a keep sake for all the children, grand children and great grandchildren. I haven't sewed for years, but now I've taken early retirement and would like these to be ready to send out by the end of the month. TIA Kootenay Annie |

Hi Kootenay Anne There is a Christmas ornament pattern on the website of http://www.everythingquilts.com that might be something you can do with the material. It isn't sewn, but looks easy. Rayne |

Welcome to both of you Westerners. What about a little Christmas tree or Christmas stocking made for each one. You could personalize by embroidering their name on some gold ribbon or directly on the item. MaryW

Thank you both for your ideas. I looked at the folded star, and that looks interesting, but I would need 2 more materials. I think I will do this for an ornament for next year. The stocking idea is what I have decided on doing. I think with a little god trim it will look lovely for years to come and just be a little reminder of Mom. I will look for a simple pattern to follow. Thanks again. Kooteny Annie |
