Hi all!

I really need help. There's a reason why I've stayed away from zippers for so long and today just reaffirmed that zippers are little instruments of torture!

So here's my problem. I can't wrap my brain around how I would insert a zipper into the opening of a bag that has an interior lining. Sewing a bag with just a zipper seems pretty straight forward and I can do that fairly easily. But what happens when the inside has a lining? How do I incorporate that??????

I'm now really frustrated and hope that someone else out there has found a solution to this particular problem.

Your help is always greatly appreciated!!!

I usually put the zipper in the 'bag' first and then add the lining. Turn under the raw edges of the lining at the zipper tape and then either hand or machine sew it down. There are many ways to do this, bu this is the least complicated.

BTW, are you using a pattern for a lined bag with zipper? That may have the directions you are looking for. Otherwise, at the next local "99 cent" sale, buy a pattern with those directions and have them on hand for the next time.

I am having a Halfheimers attack (opposite of Alzheimers) so I cannot remember all of the simple way to do it.. All I can remember right now is to keep the zipper part-way unzipped so you can turn it..Sorry I'm no help..:bg: :bg:

Hi all!

Thanks for your replies. I did manage to get it figured out. It's a little convoluted but with much wrangling I did do it! So much easier if you don't have a lining :bg: Still, at least I learned something new.

Thanks again!!!!
