My 4 yr old has finally gotten potty trained. He wants carebear underwear. Okay I was fine with the blue carebear costume and teh teddybears he plays with and the movies he watches but now he wants the underwear. I got some fabric to make the boxers but he wants the little girl panties with the lace around the legs.

I thought my hubby would have a heart attach again.

Any one got a good argument to make him want the boxers instead. Other then I said so.....
The more you disaprove, the more fun I am having!

At the same age my daughter wanted some underwear that only came in boy styles. We went through some anxiety about gender identification, social rules, etc. etc., asked the doctor who said that kind of experimentation was usual at that age. She went through a girly girl stage, a stage of trying to fool people into thinking she was a boy, many stages since. Now she's in a phase of spending a full hour spraying her hair every morning. I say relax, let him do it, don't make a fuss and save your battles for more important issues. It's hardly cross dressing, and people who grow up to be cross dressers do it in spite of all parental efforts to condition them otherwise.

Tell him that boys wear the underwear with the fly opening so they can tee-tee through it. When my son was about that age, hubby taught him to pee through the fly opening without unfastening his pants all the way. Worked with him and got him out of the little terry-cloth training pants. :bluesmile
Don't worry too much about it though. When my nephew was 2, he loved running around my mother's house in her high heels. Now at age 10, he can't believe we allowed him to do that.:nervous: (we have videos :bg: )

my niece has real issues with the toys they give her at mcdonalds, they see a girl and they automaticlly give her the girly toy, WELL, you give her a doll and she wants to cry, so she seems to always be asking for the monsters and cars ect. she has never liked the doll thing, she has gravitated to the so called boy toys since she was small :whacky:

The little vixen probably saw something on TV and was trying to get a rise out of mommy & daddy.

Just say, "No". I'm always telling my kids that they can't have everything they want(especially around Christmas time, but that's another story)...nobody gets everything they want. It is the job of the parent to overrule the kids!...at least it seems to be most of the time...

Maybe your son is a budding Ladieswear designer.

Or maybe his underwear aren't as comfortable as a girl's. May be to many seams around sensitive areas. How about silk lined boy's undies? I don't know. I have a daughter. But I do know from personal experience that there will never be a comfortable underwire bra in size C cup!
