This lady contacted me today, if you can help respond here. Thanks. Hello, I am a newly returned garment sewer. I have been quilting for 15 years and thought I'd go back to sewing clothes for the grandchildren. Can you recommend a book for me to "catch-up" with all the latest techniques. Here are some of my questions: 1) Are seems still opened after sewing or are they pressed to one side? 2) I don't have a serger so what do you recommend I use to finish seems? 3) I'd like to sew a new dress for myself out of silk. Is there anything specific I should know about working with silk? Thanks for your help and guidance. I love your website! Laura Lathrop-Warriner MaryW

First-- is it washable silk ?? next-- be careful, most silk ravels if you look at it.. Personally, I would not sew it, unless it is washable...I love silk, it feels so good... Sew With Love
