Wheeeee! I've been given an excercise bike! I've been unable to use my rowing machine since I hurt my knee doing aerobics with my daughter.( It was for her Duke of Edinborough Bronze - she joined my aerobics class and we had a teacher who made us hop - not good for the knees!) So I shall be spinning with Madonna! I always have this wish to be slim for Christmas - why I don't know because I'm not large. I have a wedding in a castle to go to at the beginning of November so maybe I can firm up some of the wobbly bits before I go.
anybody else firming up their wobblies?
love and kisses, Jan

Jan , I would like to firm up my wobblies but I am limited as to what I can do in the way of exercise because I have asthma, arthritis in both knees and a mild curvature of the spine - basically I am a crock!!! However, at work there are two floors which I go up and down to about fifty times a day so I use the stairs instead of the lift(normally I can't breathe by the time I get to the top, but that's another story...) I must walk several miles a day at work. That keeps me (sort of) fit. I used to go swimming a lot( easy on the joints ) but now that the weather has turned cold I am hibernating!! Good luck with the bike!

Considering the number of Canooks who are on this site saying it's cold here is a bit embaressing - unless you are in Leowick of course.
I started counting my aliments the other day, asthma, arthritis, anaemia, and now bursitis. ( according to my doctor anyway) Hang on, I refuse to go through the alphabet , I've just vitually cycled 8 kloms and I'm knackered! keep going on the stairs, though tough on the knees. I wish they would provide oxygen at strategic points I just don't have enough blood.
love and kisses, Jan

Compared to our recent weather it is cold! (Not as cold as anywhere else, probably, but I don't "do" cold!) I used to have an exercise bike years ago, I used to "ride" while watching t.v.,great fun.

Well, my wobbly parts have shrunk quite a bit but they still have to be a bit firmer. I have a JayLo (sp?) kind of body so that makes me feel a lot better knowing she didn't invent the now sexy "derrière". In my days, it wasn't considered sexy at all ... but now, kids don't pay the stupid comments they used to which helped quite a few women feel a lot better about their bodies.

I'm aiming for a 2 piece bathingsuit next summer :nc:  Keep going ladies, don't give up.

I have worked on the wiggly jigglies on and off for years. Right now I am the heaviest in a looooonnnng time. At work I stand all day and lift. I'm starting to feel aches and pains in joints. Next bday I will be 44, too young to feel old. I have a treadmill in the shed, waiting to find a spot and for DH to bring it in for me. I plan to try to lose some pounds to take pressure off the legs and knees. Hope to lose the job soon too.

Well ladies I started following the Weight Watchers diet three weeks ago and lost 15 pounds so far. I was swimming but with my step Dad sick I had to stop for a while but will go back. It's a heated pool inside a building so the weather out side doesn't make a difference. I feel a little better but still have around 50 pounds to go until I am really where I want to be.

I am very active but here in New Orleans our favorite past time is eating, eating and eating, that is if you don't drink and I don't. Comfort food is all around. We are known for our foods. If we are sick we eat, if we hurt we eat if someone dies we eat if you get married we eat if you get a divorce you eat. EAT EAT EAT and it's very hard living here all my life when it comes to losing weight. I need to ride my bike but have been putting off that until the weather is nice. It's either too hot, or too windy. But will try now that it's getting cooler lately. I'll keep you informed as I go.

Well done Susie, 15 lb in 3 weeks is amazing progress! I'm not neccessarily trying to lose weight but to tone what I have got into something less wibbly! Plaenty of healthy snacks in the house - that's what you need. Trouble is, after having eaten the healthy snack , then I eat the crisps as well!

I know the feeling Jan. My hubby is trying to quit smoking right now it's been three weeks since he hasn't had a cigarette and I am having to stock the house with goodies for him to munch on. Of course he's 145 soaking wet so weight is not a problem for him. He's been really good about eating the healthy foods I'm eating but he wants his munchies on the side. So we compromise. LOL I had fresh trout yesterday given to me, it was so fresh the man who brought them to me still had the boat hooked to his car when he stopped here. So tempting, I had to clean them and by the time I cooked them today I pigged out on them and they were fried. Oh well tomorrow is another day to be good.

Swimming is really a good workout and wonderful exercise if you can find a pool close that is inside. Wonderfully refreshing.

Think to yourself that oily fish are soooo good for you Susie. I love fresh trout, mmmmmmmmmm.
We have an out door pool in Royston that is closed Sept through May - since I moved here 20 years ago they have been trying to get a leisure centre built. A large housing development got permission to build on the understanding there would be a leisure centre - now the houses are built, the school playing field is sold ( for the houses) and the leisure centre is still a pipe dream. Plans are drawn up but nobody will fund it. eeessh! are we suprised, No!" No No ," say the developement company, " we never meat to PAY for it, just let you put it near our houses"
Well, in the meantime, I will keep on spinning! 10 Kilometres tomorrow! Just keep away from the munchies, girl.
love and kisses, Jan

So far I must have cycles London to Brighton twice, no weight loss, no loss off my belly, an inch off each thigh ( I now have Damn good legs and butt!) and thighs that could crack walnuts. Useful if we lose the nutcrackers over the Christmas season.
How's your husband doing with the smoking Susie? Weight Watchers still working or has Thanksgiving caught up with you?
