I was wondering what type of ironing board is rated well by anyone.

Currently I have an ironing board that is several years old but it is very wobbly. Also it does not have an iron rest. I use this ironing board exclusively for sewing.

Today I went to a couple of stores and checked out what they have to offer at various prices and dimensions. One that is $40 dollars also has a sleeve board included as well as the iron rest. Another one is $27 and has the iron rest and a linen rack.

I also checked out the internet and there are various prices for those too up to $125.

If the ironing board is well made and sturdy I do not have a problem with paying for a quality product.

I would like to hear anyone's opinion on ironing boards.

Thank you.

I bought mine at Walmart for around $28 US. It is one of the extra wide ones and has an iron rest, "shelf/linen thingy" just underneath the the ironing board and it is EXTREMELY sturdy - just ask my three cats who wrestle on it all the time! The only problem is finding ironing board covers to fit it. I finally gave up and made my own.

i also got mine at wal mart, the wide one, and it is sooo sturdy, i love it, no linen shelf or iron rest, just a plain wide one, and the wal mart here sells the covers for the wide one also which is convient, my old one was about 23 or 24 years old, a tad on the wobbly side, still use it ocasionally, but really prefer the wide one for ironing fabric after prewashing!!! :bang: which i hate!!!

My ironing board is so old I don't remember where it came from. It's not wobbly and I've never considered replacing it. I don't think it was new when I got it. I use it at least once a day and have a trunk that I sit on while I am working there. I spend more time at the ironing board than the sewing machine.

Brenda Lou, Marge and Dorothy -

Thank you very much for your help. BL - I have a cat that likes to get on mine too and she also plays around the legs which drives me crazy because it is so wobbly I'm afraid it's going to fall over!

I am going out today and purchasing a new one.

Again thank you.
