I am NOT a knitter, but I want to know about these things I have. So, my question is about loom knitting. At least I think that is what I acquired anyway. I have these flat, no hole in the center, rounded boards with pegs in a circle. There are several sizes. My uncle said his mother in law used them to make mittens, hats, scarves and many other things. His father in law made them.

From the research I have done, I found similar "looms" only these had an open center (a hole, in otherwords) and round, beaded pegs. Apparently they (the ones I researched) function much like the little "spool knitters" I used as a child with only 4 prongs or pegs, giving you a length of knitted rope.

I wondered how on earth you could use these ones I have acquired. ANY suggestions or direction is appreciated. By the way, they are not the octogonal placemat thingys. At first that is what I thought they were... but they are completely round.

THEN, is there any pattern or instructions that anyone knows of that I can use for these?

Thanks to all for your help!

Robin Pittman

PS: I can probably get a pic of one if someone needs to see it.
