I am so mad at myself. I just can't believe I didn't put my credit card back in my purse when I finished paying. So now I have to go through all the headaches of getting a new card and watching to see if anyone used the lost one. I went to place an order for fabric and realized that my credit card was nowhere to be found. It has been missing for more than 24hrs. A lot can be purchased in 24 hours. So anyway just wanted to know if anyone else has been so boneheaded or am I alone in this world? Gina

Never lost a card yet, but... My husband and I had a dial-up service for online about 2 yrs ago and when we got cable, he forgot to turn the service off, well the service continued and we got a bill for 6 mnths service last month. For a service we hadn't used in 2 years, on a credit card we hadn't had for the same two years....they kept billing the credit card and for 2 yrs it was paying, I don't know how, since I got rid of the card 2 yrs ago. That shows you how good some bookkeeping is, using computers or not..... Chrys

You should only be responsible for something like $50 if someone used your card. If you haven't reported it and asked questions about this please do so ASAP. You're certainly not the only one to do this. I've been called back a few times to take my card, my receipt, etc. Twice I've returned ATM cards left behind in the machine. On one of those occasions I was there while the bank employee called the card's owner, who insisted he hadn't left the card three days earlier. |

Try to remember what you were wearing for the last few days and check all pockets, slacks, skirts, jackets, etc. It's amazing how easy it is to slip a credit card into a pocket and forget it. (I used to work in insurance claims and we always told people to do this if they lost credit cards, rings, bracelets, etc.) Hubby lost his card and had to cancel it but then he found it months later in his accordian receipt holder. It is a nuisance for sure. The only good thing is that our home insurance will cover credit card fraud if we lose our card. Glad we didn't have to use it though. I've decided to live forever - so far, so good.

It's good to know I am not alone. I am just so angry with myself. I'v e checked all the usual hiding places and even went back to Wal-mart(the last place I used it). Hopefully it will turn up eventually. I would feel better knowiing that it was here in my house or in my van.

The first step you should take is calling all the credit bureaus and reporting it lost.. If you havent done so yet then do it right away.. This is the best step to not being responsible for charges that are made on it after your last known purchase. Just reporting it to the credit company is good but not complete as they can and will in most cases still hold you liable.. the three credit bureaus are TransUnion Eqifax and Experian.. their numbers are in the phone book and on the internet. |

Gina, Maybe you absentmindedly slipped it into the bag with your purchases... Take care,

Thanks Donna, but that was one of the first places I checked. No luck.
