You can get Barbie (fashion doll) patterns at any fabric store that sells patterns...I know Butterick and McCalls BOTH have patterns for Barbies...

also if you go to www.google.com and type in Barbie patterns you get all kinds of listings..

Don't forget to check out second hand stores and also garage sales in the summer time. Also check out the local library they may have or are able to bring in a book for you with patterns. Years ago there was a ladies magazine that use to have barbie patterns in them, although I have been reading that the old patterns don't fit the new barbie dolls but haven't tried them yet.

Try www.perestroika.ca/htm2/vest/vestpatterns.php
There is a vest pattern on there for Barbie.

I checked my pattern stash of patterns I have aquired over the years and it looks like I had a book from the library called
Godey's Lady's Book 1852 Fashion Doll Costume by Lynn K. Johnson. There is alot of patterns to copy,it's for 12" dolls but you may want to check it out and see if it will work for you.

Barbie dolls aren't easy to sew for because they are so small. Have you thought of an 18 inch little girl doll (American Girl size). To encourage your daughter to enjoy sewing is a great idea but it shouldn't be frustrating and difficult or she won't like it. Barbie can be frustrating and difficult even for experienced adults with finer motor skills.
That is just my opinion.

Do you crochet ?? My MIL used to sit down in the evening to watch TV a little, and in 2 evenings she made my neice 10 outfits for her Barbie. (this included hats and shoes or socks also)Used very little thread , also..I used to take a craft magazine that had Barbie patters in it periodically, but that has been too many years ago to find them now..

I would like to suggest also that if you have a JoAnn's close by you can get patterns there on sale for 99 cents many times throughout the year. I usually buy two..one to use and one to save.....Can't beat the price and it's nice to have the patterns on hand.

Two reason I guess....I love having a pristine uncut pattern and also because I am very careless with my patterns and have them stuck here and there on fabric waiting to be cut so I know that if I get desperate for a particular pattern, there is always one perfect waiting for me.
