All my cats male or female usally have nothing to do with me except when they wanted food. This cat my husband rescued is all over me to the point of growling and hissing at my hubby. If I sit down he is in my lap in a "love me" pet me look in his eyes. When we got him he was 4 weeks old and barly an ounce. We all took turns caring for him through the night now that he is 6 months old and weighs over 15 lbs He wont leave me alone. I am not a cat person hubby and the boys are. I am the one that takes care of the rott and the Dalmation. Is there anything I can do to get this cat to stop adoring me so much. LOL The more you disaprove, the more fun I am having!

Here's an idea!!! Since cats normally ignore people who want attention from them. Why not try a little reverse psychology? Go out of your way to pay attention to the cat, smother him with your kindness. He might just get tired of it and leave you alone.

I agree... however, I would add, kiss his face all the time, (my cats HATE THAT) and avoid me as much as possible after I start kissing their forheads and cheeks!!! Or, the other alternative, is to accept deep down you "ARE" a cat person and accept the inevetable. -Brenda ==Brenda Lou

My cat loves to be fussed but only wants to sit on MY lap when I am knitting. He has developed the stealth sneak whereby he moves so slowly he thinks you won't notice him crawling onto the lap. One day he will learn is that all that happens is he gets needles poked in him or shoved off - maybe. They just can't bear the fact you might want to do something else rather than love them. Some heavy handed petting and he can be convinced that DH's more sensual approach is far more rewarding. Stroke him wild! love and kisses, Jan

Peel a citrus fruit and try to pet him, cats hate citrus. Or find some sort of citrusy scent you can put on yourself. Stay away from mint as catnip is in the mint family. It took my husband years to realize cats all gravitate to him because he uses a mint scented soap. Probably this cat thinks of you as Mama because you got him so young. |
