Would someone whose daughter or granddaughter has one of those 18-inch dolls (such as American Girl, or Gotz) please measure it (her?) for chest, waist, hip and leg inseam for me?

I'd like to make one of those fitting models for the doll clothes I've been making as a gift for Christmas but I don't have the doll measurements.

I would really appreciate it -- thanks a lot!

You might find an old, beat up doll on eBay. I looked a while back and there were many for sale in varying conditions.

I realize you posted this question awhile ago, but I just found it. If you are still in need of measurements, My 2 older daughters both have the American girl doll. I would be happy to measure it for you.

Hi Koala,

That would be great! Thanks so much. I still have several doll outfits on my list.

Just be warned that because they have soft bodies and are stuffed, all American Girl dolls are not exactly the same size and measurements can vary by as much as an inch or more.

Wow! Thanks for the warning. I wouldn't have thought they would vary that much. I appreciate you taking the time to alert me.

We have 2 American Girl dolls. I measured them both for you. Both dolls had a chest measurement of 11 1/8 in. Waist for both was 10 7/8in. and hip on one doll was 12 1/8 and the other one was 11 7/8. Both had leg inseam of 7 in. I make clothes for both american Girl and The Bitty baby for my business, and I find that the patterns from the major companies such as McCalls, simplicity ect all fit just fine.
