Hello!

I am a beginner who has just purchased some 100% off white wool felt online. When it arrived I noticed that it has grey circular smudges of what look like dirt all over it, along with some rust colored stains and bluish round smudges. When I wrote to the seller he told me "that is the nature of 100% white wool felt". Could this be true or am I being lied to???? Help! Thanks!

Genevieve, I think you've been had; off white is off white, beige is beige and stains are stains. You should get back to the salesperson. Sorry

Genevieve, are these stains on top of the felt or right in the fibers? The reason I ask is that felt is a composite of raw fibers. Perhaps this is a shading where colored fibers were used.

It seems to be set in stains, small and round, that are greyish. If it were fibers that were sealed in, would they be long and "fiber like" in appearance? Thanks for your help...

What a rat this guy sounds like.

If you need smallish pieces of wool felt and can manage the time and effort the best way is to buy thrift store skirts in the colors you want, cut them up and machine wash them. It's amazing what beautiful garments end up in thrift stores simply because styles change. You'll get bonus zippers, hooks and lining pieces. Sometimes you have to hunt or make a second trip for specific colors but I've found skirts come in an amazing color selection. This may be another reason they get discarded :"A yellow skirt? what was I thinking?".

I would send it back and get a refund. Did you buy a significant amount?

Thanks so much for your responses. Unfortunately I bought it on ebay. Typically the ebay sellers are great and really honorable, but this guy won't respond to me at all. So, basically, I've been had, huh?

Did he state there were marks on the fabric? I think there is also a place where you can give your opinion of the vendor. Don't let this guy off scot free.
