We will have new contests starting after the New Year. One will be what we have made from something else. For example perhaps a purse from old denim jeans, a blouse from a tablecloth or maybe a hat from an old coat. Put your thinking cap on, I want to see some originality this time. Another venture will be when we all work from a similar pattern to see what different and stylish outfits we can make for ourselves. Our own fashion show. Another time when originality and creativity is key. If you don't have a creative bone in your body, use unique fabrics or colours to make up your outfit. Stretch yourself with a new idea. You girls also had some good ideas for contests but I can't remember what they were. Remind me if you gave an idea. MaryW

Well Mary, I've just bought myself some charcoal grey fabric to make a suit a la Ally McBeal and a white fitted blouse. ( Not that I am Ally McBeal shaped you understand..) This will be challenging for me as I've not lined a jacket before so although it might not look very creative it will certainly be stretching! Does this fit the category for the show and tell? I have to admit it is being on this board that has given me the impetus to try so thanks! DH came fabric shopping with me ( not mormally a happy thing) but was amazed at how much money you can save by making your own! I might sneak back to get some more material for some trousers as well while he is feeling so benevolent. love and kisses, Jan

sigh... for someone like me who is still in sewing kindergarten, I think a see and hear will be a better idea than show and tell p.s. can my mommy help me make stuff? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Won't be long Savani -most patterns are self explanatory and give you step by step instructions. When you feel like taking the plunge you can get easy sew patterns. Best advice I can offer to a beginner is pin out your pattern/fabric and go away and leave it for a day. Then come back and check each piece is laid out correctly before your scissors go anywhere near the fabric! Saves money - believe me!
love and kisses, Jan
