I have an older Bernina machine and I was shocked to find they have changed the feet in such a way that that the newer feet won't fit. I always wanted a telfon foot and was never able to get one. Maybe it is a silly thing to want?

I am not sure if a telfon foot will do any good, but I have a large number of older feet and so the telfon foot would be the one foot I need to complete my collection. Please reply if you have one that you would like to sell.

Or if you have any comments, is a telfon foot worth it? I am thinking of sewing plastics. Should I get a roller foot instead?

I looked at a roller foot and the leather roller was 50 dollars, which seems too much money. I still hope to find someone with a foot from a older Bernina foot to sell me. The Telfon foot for the older Bernia is on "order" for me, but I have my doubts as to whether or not it is coming to me or not, as much time as gone by.
Maybe it is a foolish item to desire? I would like to try sewing with a Telfon foot before investing my money.

Hi Mary Jane,

Have you checked the Nancy's Notions site? They have a Bernina shank adapter, which enables you to then use the feet(including a teflon foot, and a roller foot) on your machine.
There are links to the adapter and the teflon foot here. Also from the teflon foot page, you can get general info about presser feet.
http://www.nancysnotions.com/Nancys/Dept.asp?dept_id=42&mscssid=07755A86BC9DB4821B0278F75BA2B95E&Gift=False&GiftID=&position=18

You can also contact the site, and tell them your model number, and they can probably tell you if it will work.

At about $12 each, they may be worth a try.
Take care,
Donna

I looked at the link. I am not sure if that adapter will make new feet my machine or if it is for new Bernina's who want to use special feet. I like the show sewing with Nancy very much. Since the old and new feet are the same price, I wanted to get the telfon foot before they stop making the older feet.

I am upset that they changed the feet. If I buy a new Bernina, all the older feet will be useless. I doubt I would buy a Bernina again. It seems like a trick they planned to make everyone buy new feet. I think I should have gotten a Pfaff instead. That is what Nancy uses on her program.

I noticed that they have two different types of adapters...one for models 1530 and older, and one for newer models, so I wasn't sure if your machine would fall into one of those categories.

Nancy uses Babylock, now...new sponsor.

Good luck in your search!

Mine is the 1000, but it seem unclear if it will allow new type bernina feet to be used on a old type foot machine. It only says allows one to use the Telfon and Roller Foot. I would be able to use the Telfon Foot if I could find an "older" Telfon foot.

If I buy the newer Telfon Foot, it is the same price 30 to 35 dollars as an older foot, so I would prefer to have the older foot if possible. I think it may be the case that the new feet require the adapter.

I looked at the newer feet and they are lighter and more cheaply made. I do not see them as an advantage, but maybe some kind of money saving plan, so Bernina could produce them more cheaply yet not pass the saving on to us. If someone has more information on why Bernina changed the feet, I would love to have an explaination.

Eventually, I am sure to find someone with an older Bernina who is selling her feet, if I just wait patiently. When I asked about trading in my machine, I was told, I would not be compensated for the feet. So, it would make more sense to trade in the machine and sell the feet to other people.

Oh, I see.

The adapter at Nancy's site would enable you to use the feet that she sells at her site...they are generic feet. Many would argue that generic feet shouldn't be used...that they don't fit the machine properly. I have used them(I don't have a Bernina), with success, but I always test them slowly and carefully first.
Take care,
Donna

I understand now! I could buy a Teflon foot from Nancy and an adapter and use it. That could be a good solution.

I do have some plastic rain coat fabric from Jo Anne's. It comes with tissue paper around it so you don't need a Teflon foot. But, I read on another forum, (or was it here), that the tissue paper gets lodged in the seams and has to be picked out laborious with a seam ripper and I did not want to do that.

I am looking for plastic fabric for doll clothes. I have one outfit for a doll. It is very uncomfortable for humans to wear fake leather and plastic, but it looks great on dolls or for Halloween.
