I am sick of shopping. The crowds are awful, the malls are hot and I am cranky.

LOL. I have 6 grandkids to buy for. I find it very difficult to buy for them sometimes. I knew exactly what my own kids wanted when they were small, but grandkids are different.

We are about half done with the gifts, I just had to vent. :whacky: :whacky: :whacky:

I hate shopping. I wish the shopping fairy would come along zap and there would be affordable perfect presents for everyone. :bg:

We don't have Malls and it has been so cold I am having a hard time getting motivated to go running between stores. You have to dress so warmly for the dash that by the time you spend five minutes in the store you are sweating.

Also what is it with evey store being loaded with stink. I am so allergic to perfume that after the first store I can't breathe and have a migrane.

OK there is my ventSherri

Other then going to the kids school to pick them up I do not drive in the month of Dec. Its terrible. People are more interested in the shopping bags then others on the road.

The only shoping I did was to get the little extras that I did not have in my stash. This Christmas is if I cant make it you cant get it. Things being tight.

Usally I get it all done at the after Thanksgiving sale. Yes I am one of the weirdos that get there at 200 in the morning and run through the store but this year there really wasnt anything worth waiting in line for.
The more you disaprove, the more fun I am having!

Havn't started yet, day off Friday, I hit the shops then. I am really looking forward to it - I'm going to get myself some fabric and stuff and then have a coffee...
most of my relatives are dead apart from immediate family so it isn't too hard to find things that they will like. My MIL always asks me what to get for the girls Mary, so I have to think of extra things that other people can get...this year, toesocks and fishnet stockings...

Martha Pullen has a newsletter and she told about how she lined up one year at 5:45 am at Toys R Us. She said she was one of about 500 others who were waiting for the doors to open. Apparently the crowds were so bad it took her 3 hrs. to get her items paid for and get out of there.

I must be really getting old or something.

We have midnight madness shopping and it really is mad. Some stores have hourly specials and stuff so people will just stand in the store until the next special. It is supposed to end at midnight but some stores are still checking people through to 1-2 in the morning. You have to really want something to be shopping at 2 in the morning.

I'm almost done and I've enjoyed it. Perhaps it's because we cut Christmas gift exchanges down to an affordable range years ago which took the pressure off. Also, I start asking for their gift "wish list" about July so I just pick things up they indicated they would like when I see them on sale. By now I either have everything bought or I know exactly what I want and just wait for it to come on sale. For the first time I have ordered something on-line - books from Chapters/Indigo.. one I couldn't find in the book store and the other one was way cheaper on-line then in the store...and because it came to over $39 (with the quilt book I just had to have for myslef) shipping was free. Can't beat that.

I don't buy for siblings and their spouses, neices or nephews, etc...way, way too many of them (over 50) and we don't see them that often. We send each other Christmas good wishes only.

Try to enjoy the season people. It is what you make of it!

Well...The only shopping I have to do is for my sister and my in-laws. I usually shop in late Oct and early Nov. (and yes I do shop sales) I have all my gifts bought by the first of Dec. That way I can watch all the crazies on t.v. making themselves out to be idiots, shoving and yelling while going into shops early in the morning.
Have I ever shopped on 'black friday' ? why yes I have, ONCE. I made the mistake of listening to my sister and we went shopping 'that day' while she was still living in Sac. Ca. I saw women screaming, yelling, kicking, punching and pulling at everything they could get their hands on...I'd never seen anything like it and I won't subject myself to stuff like that again.
So I shop early. (luckily I have few to buy for..but when I did have a lot to buy for I did the same thing...)
In fact my sisters presents are off on a UPS truck to her as we speak...and my Christmas cards are in the mail... :bg:

I hate the crowd that go with shopping at this time of the year. I was in Grande Prairie on Saturday and by 10:30 a.m. the stores were full. I got what I wanted and headed to the fabric store. I bought fabric and books instead of looking for the small gifts we need for our children. I send them money for something they want as bussing a microwave is very expensive. I will get some small things in our own town in two weeks, wrap them and bus them off. I have lots done already.

I hate crowds at any time, but this time of year is much much worse! I took a day off work and went shopping yesterday - got most of my stuff. We decided years ago not to buy for brothers, sisters, cousins etc. too many of them and too expensive. Now we just buy for the kids - it makes life so much easier. I always try and get my shopping done about two weeks before xmas if possible. One year I left it all to the last minute and then went down with flu ( real flu, not a heavy cold), so everyone got money in a xmas card via my mother. Won't do that again!

My children are still young, so it's pretty easy to pick out things for them. But I think that my shopping this year will be done online. Besides, everything that my husband wants I get it cheaper online.

I too hate the crowds and shopping. Living in a city with 3 universities, I avoid the shopping areas from October until Feb -- the mall and fancy stores -- we have 7 fabric stores and I will venture out to those. Our 2 Walmarts are open 24/7 to tend to shop in the wee hours -- no lines, no rush and the nite clerks know me by name and actually remember brands I buy and will tell me if there is a special running.

I make all my Christmas gifts -- and the family understands and waits if they dont get done in time for the holidays -- last year my nieces got theirs in January .... yes they were ready for Christmas but my sister was just going to stop by on her way to the inlaws and pick them up but the weather was so bad i finally just mailed them --

The one year i bought presents, it was the adults who complained -- i was working 2 full time jobs and going to school 2/3s time. Their comment was WE would have waited -- go figure! Actually I am the only one that sews or knits or does anything really crafty -- but like alot of people who have posted here -- my list of giving has become quite small (thank goodness) -- only 16 to make for this year so i m busy working on it still and that includes my DBF side (his is small too) and my special internet friends

I just dont sweat it -- they get done when they get done --
