Is anybody out there going to make it through their list of holiday projects this year. I'm beginning to think you can take me off the list again. I can never seem to keep up with my plans. I have some great after Xmas plans though.

dorothy, i had request last year for the had towels that go over the drawer pulls, well i bought the christmas towels as soon as i saw them in the store and finally got them all (34) of them done, then my daughter saw them and said she wanted to give them to her teachers this year, so back to the store and bought more towels and i got them all finished this week, i did most of them with the flap and button closure, but some of the relatives requested just a rounded top with a button hole in the middle, to go over the knob pull of their drawer, which went easier than i thought it would be, couldn't use the automatic button hole attatchment for those ones. but they went fairly quick and i'm done now, maybe i can get to all the flannel i got at joanns on black friday, hubby and kids want more flannel pants which will be a joy to work on after all those towels!!! :bg: :bg:

Holiday project list... lets see... I already gave up!!!!!!!!!

I'm making five denim purses out of old jeans for my five neices.

One fleece throw (that is easy, just throw it on the serger!)

Lots of hot pads!!!

Gave up on my brothers fleece vest.. it may be a bday present in February.

Made my mom a cheat quilt (already pieced fabric)

Who knows which ones will actually get done, because we are in the process of moving my sewing room from downstairs to the upstairs spare bedroom (it is WAY TOO COLD) in the basement for me esp. with my arthritis!

Am still trying to get the projects started last year done in addition to the ones for this year. Have almost finished one purse and a pair of pants. Still have a top and 2 sweatshirt jackets plus a set of placemats and apron with hot pads to make not to mention 3 purses and 4 travel pillows. I have to send my cutting table and storage bins to the attic so we can light the main floor furnace. Not a good time for this move but necessary as it is in the 20's at night. With the wind blowing the chill factor is in the teens so we need the furnace. Hope everyone has a safe, healthy and happy holiday season.
Happy Stitching!

My tradition started when we gave our kids only one gift to open on Christmas eve, it would always be new pj's...Now that I am a grandma and Step grandma, I have gone one step further, I now make all the grands flannel pj's. I got 24 yards of flannel at Joann's on black Friday. I have 3 kids nighties, 3 pair of kids pj's, a nighty for my MIL and sleep pants and night shirt for my sons fiance. Probably will make sleep pants for my daughter and son in law if time permits....whewwwwwww and NOW I am fighting a headcold and a sore throat

Black Friday is the big day after Thanksgiving shopping day. I only learned that this year myself. I have finished 3 knitted scarves and three doll outfits. I have a doll outfit, a baby quilt, and another scarf in progress. Material has been bought for a baby bunting and one of those neck pillows that you fill with rice. I'm not going to hold my breath, just sew as much as I can and probably wrap on Christmas Eve. Happy Holiday sewing to all!

I had the chance to take advantage of black friday myself last year. A dear friend from the US (I am Canadian)went shopping and got me all kinds of patterns I would have paid $12-$19 each for. she only paid .99 for each one. I picked out the ones I wanted, but really didn't think she would ever get them. She got them and sent them to me, I was totally thrilled. Every time I look at them I think of her. :bluesmile

howdy all!!!

it's been a while since i have been here. was hoping that I can get more ideas for gifts.
this year i made pairs of semi-quilted pillows for my brother, sister, niece, & nephew. I have to make one more pair for my sister in law.
When i figure out how to get pictures loaded into the site, I will show the Father Christmas i made. I taught my girl scout troop how to make them 4 years ago. You use a tomatoe tree and a 7" syrofoam ball, fabric, yarn, and christmas decorations and lights. I am now going to try and figure out how to make Mrs. Christmas.
I will try and talk anyone through one if you are interested.
hope to find more ideas while i'm here.

Got the pillows cut out and decided to add black snowflakes to the red sweatshirt jackets and bind in black fleece. Will try to finish sewing them on Monday. Have a top to finish and a pair of pants plus apron. Should be able to finish by Thursday of next week. Then it will be wrap, pack and ship across the country. No extended family nearby and am not expecting Christmas company. It may be like Thanksgiving and I stay in my PJ's all day.
Still hoping to get the Christmas tree down from the attic.
Happy Stitching! Marty

I was able to make two neck pillows and do some quilting on the baby quilt. Sickness has had me down for about 4 days and I'm getting a little anxious the closer it gets to Dec. 25. The baby bunting won't be made. The pattern is for 13-18 lbs. The baby weighs 14 lbs. and growing fast. I'll have to find a little jacket or something else because this fleece is just too cute to be stored. I'm back to working on doll clothes, trying to get in a little sewing tonight for it's back to work tomorrow. Have a great week everyone!

Try real hard not to sew on Sunday as I don't want to pick stitches out with my nose on Judgement Day ... LOL!!! That has stayed with me thru the years. Must confess I will have stitches to pick out. Anyway, got the apron cut. At our Pfaff Club on Friday, we were given info to make kitchen towels using potholders for the top. Fold a square potholder in half diagonally leaving the loop at the top. Gather the kitchen towel and sew onto the potholder. Voila!! Quick gift to make. Towel fits over kitchen drawer knob. This can be done quickly with a serger or the potholder can be split with bias tape added. Be creative.
Another quick and easy gift is a bag holder. Using a kitchen towel, stitch a seam up the edges and add elastic at the bottom. Wouldn't that be cute with matching potholders and towels?
Happy Stitching!!! Marty
