Last year I bought a real tree over the internet, because I live in FL and the trees here are NOT what I grew up with. So I ordered a blue spruce from a farm in MI. It got here in GREAT condition, smelled wonderful and really lasted quite awhile before the needles started falling. I paid $59, tree and shipping...sounds like a lot, but I really didn't think it was. (tree was 5' tall) This year it's a pre-lit fake....$59....tree and shipping....1/2 of the lights don't work and the company is supposedly sending me another. (4'6" tall) so this years tree is costing me time AND money.... Chrys

what gets me is i live where there are christmas trees all around me, yet i can't cut them. growing up my mom and dad always got a live one, with the root ball and all, and after christmas they would plant it in the yard. when they moved some 13 years later, the farm had trees all over that where from christmas's past, the biggest one and first one was in the front yard. ahh the memories now i have a live one that i pay way too much for and then throw out in the first week in the new year, go figure, lol. |

When you want to get a live tree here it costs between 80 and 90 dollars. There are trees all around us to but they are spindly little northern pines. Not very good Christmas trees. So we bought a nice artificial that we can use again and again. I like the idea of getting one with a root ball and planting it in the yard. Sherri My website

We always get our tree in the woods for free. They're not as full as bought trees, but when it is decorated it looks nice. It costs about $25 to buy a tree here. |

We haven't bought a live tree in years. I try not to look at the prices, but the lowest I have seen is $40 and that is for fairly small one. As a kid my family cut and sold trees for spare money at Christmas. We charged 75 cents for anything over 6 feet, and 50 cents for those under. Am I telling my age? We had to find the trees, then worked hard cutting and dragging them to the road to sell. Most times there was snow on the ground. We had so much fun doing it as many snowball fights erupted, snow forts got built and snow angels made. What memories I have.

The live trees here are about $10 for a regular size, you'll pay $20 if you want a really tall one. We live in the country and many have their own small tree farm and sell them in the front yard. We have an artificial, I break out from the real ones. |

Local farmer sells them at £1 per foot and cuts them to order - so fresh! But I have a fakey, I get fed up of still kneeling on the needles in June. I wonder which is more environmentally friendly? - probably the real one as they are renewed annually and recycled to produce garden mulch.
