I'm glad I found this place, I'm going to be in beginning quilting a lot, I think. :bluesmile

Right now I am trying to make this doll sling and for some reason I can NOT figure out how to cut it out. It seems to use 'piece' and 'pieces' interchangeably.

Does it make sense to anyone? How many pieces exactly do I cut out? one? two? three? :whacky:

I am using 45" flannel, .75 yard piece.

Fold your fabric in half with the selvedge edges (the ones that are finished not cut) together.

You will cut out a piece that is the size of piece #1 with the folded edge of the fabric as one edge. In other words, you are cutting out a rectangle with the folded edge as one of the sides. You will cut the rectangle with the folded edge 20 inches long. This will equal one piece after it is cut that will end up being 40 x 14. You will then cut another piece identical to that one.

Now cut 2 pieces from the left over fabric that measure 14 x 7.5 inches.

You will have a total of 4 pieces. Two rectangles that iare 40 x 14.5 and 2 strips that are 14 x 7.5.

Well, I am sitting here attaching the velcro to the finished project. I have no idea how people make these from her instructions!

It is actually a 14x20 on the fold, which opens to 28x20. You also need four of the 14x7.5, to make two straps. She never mentions the second strap!

Both long edges of the first piece are gathered, as well.
