What is this? It is on the supply list on a craft panel I bought last year. I'm thinking it is some sort of batting since it is sandwiched between fabric but it is supposed to be left exposed at the edges and I think it will stand out since the fabric it is sandwiched between is brown.

The fibers are felted together with needles rather than stuck together with adhesives. It is better for making your quilt last, like using acid free storage, and probably better for people with allergies.
