I really prefer books to videos when it comes to learning something about sewing. I can open to the appropriate page, set it up next to my sewing machine or serger, and try it right there on the spot...I find with videos that I often have to rewind and review. Besides, I don't have a TV/Video player in my sewing room, but if I did, I would probably have my hands on the remote more than on the sewing machine. :whacky:

I have a few videos(Nancy, Sandra...mostly taped from TV), and I find that with those, I end up writing notes to use when I am sewing...better for me to use a book!
Take care,
Donna

Hello Mary,

I like to have a combination of sewing books and videos for reference. I usually turn the VCR on and listen as I sew. When I take my breaks I usually watch one in its entirety. I have one in particular from Viking. It goes step by step and even tells you to stoip the VCR and try the technique.

Happy Sewing

Hi Mary,
The videos are great but tend to put me to sleep. I love my books as I can pull them off the shelf, check something and go right back to sewing as opposed to setting up and searching a video to find what I need. The videos are great for learning a new technique but I find books are a lot more helpful overall. I have a combination of both and the books get a lot more useage. Happy Stitching!

dmoses, you should ask Santa for one of those small T.V.'s with the built in VCR for Christmas. And if you think that you don't have the room for it, have him bring you a wall brakett , like they use in hospitals. It can be mounted just high enough to be clear of your work but still easy to reach.

I'm torn on this one. I like books that I can pull out and reference anytime, but a video came with my serger and it was very helpful.

I'm sure these are awesome, they go over things everyone has problems with, but they seem just a smidge overpriced, for me at least...

If I had the money I'd get a couple of them...
