Hi All I have a picture of a formal dress I want to make for myself for a wedding. It looks pretty simple to make. Does anyone know how to make a pattern from a picture? Its a dress i found on ebay. I tried Dress Shop 5 Demo, Curves demo, Boutique Demo, PatternMaker 6 demo, and none of them does what i wants. The dresses they create dont look anything like i want. im totally new to making patterns, but sewing isnt a problem. is there maybe a program to import the picture into a program then the pattern is made? or could somebody help me with the basic layout of the pattern? i could send the picture so it can be looked at Any help would be appreciated Mystra Oh yeah.....what is a sloper? |

Wow, Mary, That article is very informative! I knew what a sloper was, but had no idea how it should be used. Mystra, have you looked through the pattern books for patterns with similar design elements as the dress? It may be easier to use an existing pattern, and alter that. Then again, creating a pattern from scratch would be a great accomplishment, I think. Good luck! Take care,

Pattern Master Boutique demo may not do what you want but the program probably does. It takes time to learn to use, though, and is a big investment. I agree with making some alterations to an existing similar pattern. Can you show us the ebay listing or describe the details and style you want? |

If they're current patterns you could post the company and pattern number so we can look at them. It's possible to do this on the company sites or at sewingpatterns.com. |
