Christmas/Holiday song and what is your most cherished childhood memory about the season? And Holiday movie?

I love Oh Come, Oh Come Emanuel, Once in Roayl David's City, Silent Night and White Christmas, ( plus many more!)

My favorite memory is where we lived when I was a child, in the Ohio Snow Belt,(an area in Northeast Ohio that gets alot of snow when the winds blow just right off of Lake Erie.) It had snowed Christmas Eve so the ground was burried in snow. My mom had been very sick that year and wasn't able to do very much before hand. My older sibs and I were not allowed to go down stairs until my dad had checked to make sure that Santa had been there, i/e he was turning on all the holiday lights!! When he gave the okay, we would turn the corner onto the landing on the stairs and our first sight was a BIG 8' tree with lights and decorations, which Santa brought, and wrapped packages out to the middle of the living room. ( the house used to be a funeral parlor so the rooms were very big) That year "Santa" brought a Tammy doll and her entire family and friends. Mom had made two cases, Girl Scout boxes, PACKED FULL, of homemade doll clothes for all the Tammy dolls!!!!!!
I still have those dolls and the clothes, Christmas memories of that year will last me a lifetime.

I have to say that my favorite holiday movie is White Christmas, it was my mom's also.

JINGLE BELLS, JINGLE BELLS, JINGLE ALL THE WAY!!!!!!! OH WHAT FUN IT IS TO RIDE IN A ONE HORSE OPEN SLEIGH!!!!!!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVEYONE!!!!!!!:bg: :bg: :bg:

Hi Sewhappie,

That's a wonderful Christmas memory.

Christmas was always a magical time when I was a child. Now, it just seems like stress, stress, stress! LOL

I have to say that my favourite carol is Oh, Holy Night, but it has to be sung in a certain way for me to enjoy it. In university, our dorm had a party, and one of the girls(who, in my opinion, has the voice of an angel) sang it as we sat around in the darkness(with only candle light). It was so beautiful!

Favourite movie is Scrooge (the musical).
Take care,
Donna

"In the Bleak Midwinter"

walking back through the deep, frosty air after midnight mass, hearing the bells ringing in Christmas and knowing I was going to be up again in only a few hours. The silent scrunch of the snow beneath my feet and the outstretched arms of the trees as my breath slices through my nostrils.
love and kisses, Jan

I guess if I have a favorite xmas song it would be Brenda Lee's Rocking Around the Christmas Tree.
My favorite memories don't really go back to my childhood. I do remember going to Aunt Ruby's house, which I loved because she was THE BEST.
Most of my memories are of xmas with my kids -- my husband laying in bed laughing at the girls pounding on the door because they couldn't open gifts until he got up, the year I made Barbie clothes. This year I especially remember little Robbie from down the street sneaking up and shoveling the walk on xmas eve one year. My youngest daughter was off visiting a friend so Robbie came in and we unwrapped her gift -- some electronic game system -- and played with it all evening. She was a little annoyed.
I especially remember Rob this year because he grew up and married my daughter's best friend from High School. Just last Friday their first baby was born. At first there was some concern about the baby's health but now mom and baby are doing fine. They are both such great kids and this kind of makes the holiday special this year.
