Greetings!

I am new here, and found this forum by searching for information on a wonderful older machine I just picked up at my local Goodwill. It's a Sew Mor by Hilton Sewing Machines, no model #. It's been lovingly cared for and appears to be in great shape. I have no manual or other paperwork for it and am having no luck searching the web. I set it up last night and attempted some trial stitching, and the stitches won't "take" - the bobbin appears to be fine, and the needle goes up and down, but the thread isn't pulling the bobbin thread through. Does anyone have any ideas, especially on my search for more information on this particular brand of machine?

TIA, and bright blessings,
Cindy in KS

www.sewingmachinemanuals.net

I've found 1 manual listed for a SewMor 606......
look under 'Other Machines' listing at the bottom of the list page.
It's the only one I've found, besides another SewMor machine being sold on e-bay...no manual mentioned there...

Thanks Chrys! My SewMor is a 3ll, but this is more info than I had. I'm going to e-mail the folks who own the website, and I'm also writing the woman who moderates the vintage sewing forum at TIAS.

I'm still looking for ideas as to possibilities as to why the bobbin thread won't pick up...

Bright blessings,

It could be a problem with the "race". That's the part that holds the bobbin in the machine. It has a little hook on it that pulls the thread up. Have you found a sewing machine serviceman/woman in your area? They should be able to tell you what's wrong, if you can't find the answer.

Good luck!
