How do you celebrate the new year? When I was young, I loved nothing more than a party and a big smooch when the clock hit 12. Now I am usually fast asleep by then. ~sigh~

How do you celebrate the big event?

Yikes... I just started a thread in the 'Take a break section'.. guess I'll just copy+paste what I wrote there...
---------------------------

Right now, our friends circle here is sorta divided. People who have kids and people who don't. We are all in the late 20s, early 30s age group (jeeezz.. most of you here have kids my age, makes me feel so..what's the word?.. inexperienced??.. I can't think of the word I wanted, so this is closest ...). Last year we opted to go out with the no-children group (to NYC). I have no kids. (YET. we are trying..hard). But that turned out to be a little too yuppy...Going clubbing is no more my cup of tea (and DH hates it). SO this year, we opted to stay with the people who have kids and I decided to give all the stressed out moms and dads a break and invite them for a nice quiet dinner. Good food, good wine (and good scotch, DH will drink only that).. nice conversation....The kids (all toddlers) will come too and I will rearrange the guest room a little so the toddlers can all go to sleep there... I AM getting old.. i guess...

My fave New Years Party was run by some friends at church. Fancy Dress Men in Black - we had a variety of aliens and they converted their front room into a space ship. hanging bubble wrap, giant saucer thing from the ceiling and weird blue lights. Tony went as a bug and had plastic cockroaches and snakes falling out of his sleeves, somehow an exert from star wars was there, they had a room set aside for the kids with tv vid and a BBBBBIIIIIG bed so theat they could crash. I was a blast. This year Tony and I will be going round a friends for a quiet drink, DD1 is with the boyfriends family and DD2 is still looking for a party....we may have to take her with us, can't leave her home alone..
talking_head, the word you were looking for is... young. The good thing is, you don't grow out of it!

LOL... that's what my aunt calls me (fondly, she was a TV producer, so...).. Well.. anyways.. most of my teachers complained I talked too much in class (I used to go to a convent school for grades 6 and 7, guess it was a reaction to the ultra-strict nuns! ;) )

Very nice of you to invite parent's with children... I'm sure they will thankyou for that ... It's not alway's easy for them to get a sitter.

Happy New year's to all of you... I pray you all have a Safe and Healthy New Year

Jan, you took the words right out of my mouth!!!!! Young is the word. And I never what to grow up. I was out on the skate floor with the grandkids the other day doing the hokey pokey, and then when my grands sang for christmas they had an amusement park set up and I went on the Tilt a whirl. Love that ride even if it makes me a little loopy when I get out I'm like the cat we use to spin around as kids. Let her go and she'll walk sideways for a while. Well that's me. Noticed I called you Jan. I have become fond of you Jan and I don't like Magots. LOL I bet we could be trouble if we lived close to each other. ROFL

Savani, your as old as you feel no matter what your YIA (years in age) are and I feel like I'm 100 today. LOL :nah: I'm young at heart. My body is all broken up arthritis, bursitis, and bladder problems but all and all I still have my teeth, most of them anyway. LOL

Everyone have a Happy New Year and don't get too Happy!!!!!!:bg: If you know what I mean.

I've done nothing today but waste the day away. Playing on the computer and talking to Bren on the phone. Oh well tomorrow is another day. Scarlet O'Hara's famous last words.

Oh, I almost forgot with all my chattering, I was going to a dance tomorrow night but backed out. We're not feeling too good, stuffy noses, sore throats, coughing and achey all over. Usually we do what Mary does every year. Go to sleep before time. But got invited to a dance and was going until late this evening when Hubby came home sick.

All 6 kids with spouse & boyfriends & Grands will be here for turkey dinner @ 6. then we will play games & watch TV until midnight. DD2 has another party to go to. but she wil stay until 11 or so. We quit drinking years ago ( when we did it was very little anyway). We have soooo much junk food that it lasts for a few days. If the little ones want to stay then I will let them. They want there uncles to do everything for them anyway so it isn't much trouble for me. It makes a really good start to the New Year having our whole family together.
