I went to annthegran the other day and was checking out some new sites..she has a LOT of links to embroidery sites...I found a new site with embroideries that they are selling as THEIR'S, when I know for a fact that they belong to at least 3 other sites. I contacted her and her reply was, 'maybe they digitized the same things'...hhhmmmmm....well...the same thumbnails used at the 'other' sites were used, as were the colors...and the colors were used the same way. Now to ME this says 'stolen property'. (because I have bought some of these same designs from the sites that 'own' them). Yes I DID contact the other sites, no reply as of yet.... Did I do the wrong thing and tell, or should I NOT have expected SOMEONE to actually listen and take action ??? We keep reading about 'stolen property' ending up on the web..be it embroidery, quilts, machines, names,etc....you'd think more would be done about it....::heavy sigh:: Chrys

If I worked really hard on something like these people do when they digitize these designs I'd want to know if someone else was trying to profit off of them. Wouldn't you? You did the right thing in my opinion. susie |

I did digitizing. and my free designs I would not worry about. They are usally less then 5 min to worry about. But the ones that I work hard on I do object to others selling or giving away. There are some sights that have some of the same designs. We use the same clip art. But I am one of the people that tell on others selling designs on Ebay. I got to the producer of the designs. I tell Janome and I have seen some of Sew Terrific when I saw some one selling his Alphabet that used to be free but now is for a charity. I think you did the right thing and you should be proud of your self. and if they are stolen I hope the person is punished. The more you disaprove, the more fun I am having!

I have seen stolen patterns too. I knew the designer, and someone copied her quilting patterns to sell as their own with very minor changes. I have also seen stolen embroidery designs for sale as their own, and I reported them to the original company that made them. I never got a reply. MaryW
