My New Years Resolution is to make it a year to focus on me. I work 50 +Hours a week and spend the rest of my time keeping up the house and doing for everyone else. Consequently I'm out of shape, to heavy, need a haircut and never have time to do anything for me. This year I'm going to focus on myself,getting a proper diet, exercise and saying no. I am retiring from being a 4-H leader and promise to slow down a bit.

As a start, I hired a housekeeper to come in for a day every two weeks. I plan to get away from my desk and walk during lunch. I have a long way to go but I am very detirmined to not to break my resolution this year. The diet will have to wait a week though as we leave on a cruise next week.

I want to have a happy year with my husband and family. To that end, we will take this wonderful trip and come back fully rested, relaxed and with a much clearer mind to the future.

There was a lot going on in our house this past year and not all of it was wonderful stuff. 2004 will be much different. :up:

... to get to bed before much longer... it's 2004 here and has been for a while. Happy New Year all, I intend to hold on to my "me " time with both hands and not let it get subsumed into household chores.

My New Years resolution is not to carry round so much junk in my handbag! I just cleaned my bag out and got rid of so much stuff I don't actually need to carry round - now all that's in there is my purse, a diary, 3 inhalers(essential), mobile phone (also essential),comb and a lipstick. Now there's lots of room, but I don't know how long it will last............

Well I'm back and I guess you know by now I didn't win the lottery. LOL Not even close. Some lucky souls did in Penn. and in S Carolina, Libby was that you? LOL

The purse issue is definately a sore thing with me. My problem is when I pay for something I always throw the change in the bottom of my purse. By the end of the week my shoulder is killing me with all that change. Sometimes it weights like 10 pounds. And I have a small purse in my purse to keep my change but somehow it's always a hassle to find it with me trying to get out of the next person in lines way. If someone tried to hurt me I could hit them with my purse and knock them out.

My New years resolution is to avoid stress as much as possible. last year was a very stressful year for our family. I had a DSIL & a niece both have miscariages. Then my DD got married in June. My Dad had surgery in June and was in & out of the hospital 6 times before he passed away in Nov. 1 DBIL lost his job. 1 DBIL found out he has cancer( he is going through Chemo now and things are looking promising), 1 BIL ( notice I didn't add the D) cheated on sister & they are going through a divorce. Nephew was in jail for a domestic problem with girl friend. DD 12 had her tonsils out in Oct. Both DS are faiing Physics. DN broke his foot at school and was in a cast for 6 weeks. DN 22 Flipped his Mom's car in Dec. (DUI) He was lucky & only got a few stitches. & it scared him enough that he hasn't had a drink since. MIL has been in the hospital a few times. Her arteries are clogged in her legs & it causes her so much pain she can't walk. She was supposed to have that taken care of last week but I haven't heard anything yet.
I haven't had any time to sew.
Sorry this is so long but that is how my year went & why I am avoiding stress.

How can so many bad things happen to one family? Life is so unfair. Let's hope this year is better for everyone, Barb - but especially you and yours. Good luck

I am right in there with you Susie! I have at least 30 lbs or more to lose before I feel that I am back at a weight that I feel is right for me! We are taking a vacation in June to celebrate our 25th (which happened last October) and to celebrate our daughter's graduation, so want to be fit and ready for a nice trip!

I had a busy year last year and had to put sewing and quilting aside a lot so I resolve to spend more time for me and doing the things that I love which includes sewing, quilting, gardening and more.

I occasionally sell on Ebay and this year I also resolve to either get to a point where I feel that I can make a little money after all of the fees they charge or just to forget about doing it altogether!

Then I just want to have more time with husband, kids and loved ones!

I made another resolution - to stop eating so many crisps!! It would not bother me if I had to do without crisps for the rest of my life, but because they are there ( in the kitchen) I eat them! We always have crisps in - my partner likes crisps and so does my daughter. I have decided to buy flavours that they like and I don't; then I won't be tempted. ( I'll probably just eat something else instead.....)

After hearing what barb went throught last year... barb, I am sure 2004 will be a great year... (This may sound crazy to most of you, but I draw and read horoscopes using ancient indian astrology. barb, if you need it, lemme know, and no, its not a profession. I am an East-Indian by descent and its a art handed down by my family to me and I share it by giving readings to friends and family)

My resolution is not to jump to conclusions and be a little more optimistic about stuff and NOT PANIC. No matter what.

Find more time to read. Have 4 books half-read. One that my father gave me last year at my wedding is not even half-read. DM and DD are visiting me next week and I need to finish it before then.

And dress better. No more reaching to the first pair of pants/skirt and first blouse/t-shirt I find. No more wearing white cotton socks on everything. (well...not EVERYTHING, but they are sooooo comfortable).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Cheers!
