I have been looking for a pattern for a yoga mat as well as recommended materials to construct it. Has anyone made a mat or know of a pattern?

Thanks and Happy New Year!

Depends on what kind of a mat you are looking for.
Some people use a sticy mat, I am happy using my dhurrie-like cotton one. I also have a rag-rug from Ikea that I use for Yoga. Because it has small ridges, it does not slip and is all cotton (which is a must for me, coz the synthetic mat does not absorb sweat from your hands)

The sticky mat has a foam like material that I think you might be better off buying the mat (for less than $20).

If you are looking for a mat carrying bag pattern, the threads magazine website has a pattern on it.

I would buy the mat and make myself a nice rug to snuggle under when you are doing relaxation or meditation.
I like my mat 'cause it is none slip I also love my yoga classes

Rugs are a great idea I hadn't thought of! Cotton definitely appeals...

Thanks!
