I am taking a break after all the Christmas sewing I did. I have enough scrap material now to do at least two quilts. They are not my favorite sewing but being penny wise I will try to use every bit of material I have.

Here it is Jan 3rd and they are expecting temos in the 70's today in central Virginia. Sounds liek a good day to get some out door things done.

Now, please start posting you planned projects so maybe someone will inspire us to get sewing again!

Peace to all !!!!

Over the Christmas break, I sewed up 2 table runners, 5 trivets, 2 pillows, and 2 wall hangings. They now need to go with me to be quilted. At school I have large tables which I can lay things out on, tape, pin baste and then quilt. It saves my antique table from getting marked up. Tomorrow I plan on making a pair of pull on pants, finish up an overnight bag, and finish a tool caddy. When I get all my quilting done, then I will look at my fabric again and review what I am going to make next.
Next semester starts on Feb 3 and I have one group doing quilting so I will be quilting with them. It will be fun. I will start with colours and the girls who have to do garments will benefit from this also. I plan on getting a lot of my winter quilting fabric sewn this year. We will wait and see as I have another course to take starting Feb. 15.

My BIL is getting married May 22nd, so I am making them a queen sized quilt for their bed. Royal Blue, navy blue fabric with brown hearts and a very light brown/beige fabric. Pretty simple thank goodness since it is my first queen sized quilt. 10" blocks, in a simple geometric pattern. I'm going to do Nancy's quilt as you go method on it. The only bummer is that without realizing it, I bought poly/cotton batting and it needs to be quilted every 4" instead of the 10" I am use to with the warm & natural. So, inside of each square I will quilt in a heart. Should keep it fairly simple! I have all of my front squares cut out, now all I have to do is cut out the back and I am ready to start.

I have to make a huge laundry bag and some shoe bags for a trip. After that I need some handwork to do at night. I have a needlepoint project to finish but I hate to drag all those threads with me.

You girls should really go to Shari's site and look at some of the videos, etc. she has to offer. Totally awesome, she gives machine embroidery an entirely new look.

I finished doing covers for cushions for my two arm chairs. (The Ikea type). Last night I finished a magazine caddy for my husband side of the bed, its the kind that tucks under the mattress with pockets for glasses, pencils, paper and magazine. I am waiting on the some fabric I ordered to start doing a bunting bag, matching cusion covers for accent pillows on my sofa and a summer top for me.

Mary,
Just a reminder...don't carry sewing needles or scissors in your carry-on luggage. I forgot that I had a small sewing kit in my bag when travelling last summer...they took my scissors in Halifax, and the needles in Toronto. :bg:
Take care,
Donna

I'm back to garment sewing. I have a couple new early spring outfits to get done sometime before late spring.

Thanks Donna. They took my folding scissors last year too and my nail file.

Everything I quilt is pieced and quilted. Some are very simple and others have lots of pieces. I learned how to quilt nearly 10 years ago and love it. I only did the tops so I will be doing the rest starting tomorrow night when I get back to the school. Most of the stuff will go quickly as the machine quilting is easy.
